as proud of General Motors' new emphisis
on fuel efficient cars, and the new front
wheel drive Nova accentuates GM's corn-
mrnittment to that end.
The Nova is the newest experement in the
automobile industry as it was built in a'oint
partners *p between General Motors and
Toyota of Japan.
"Take the Chevrolet sign off ad put your
hand over it and you find it's a Toyota Cor-
rolla," Mr. Walsh said. Over the years the
Corolla has been selected as one of the best
performing cars in the business.
"It's good on gas and efficient in the snow
because of the front wheel drive - it gets 40 to
45 miles to the gallon," Mr. Walsh added.
"GM and Chev-Olds have committed
themselves to front wheel drive and that
definitely helps in our area because of the
severe winter that we have."
Mr. Walsh intends to have a full compli-
ment of 10 to 12 1987 models on hand at
Wheels 87 on Oct. 9. -Included in that line up
will be the Cavalier, the fourth best seller in
Canada in 1986, the Celebrity, which follow-
ed close on the heels of the Cavalier in 1986
sales, the Olds 88, and the full size Caprice
classic.
But for small cars Mr. Walsh intends -to
display the Chevette Scooter which he says
is the most competitive car in the market. •
"You can't improve on perfection," Mr.
Walsh said about the Chevette.

Van. "You'll get a kick out, of .that. Its got
everything on it. It's the ultimate in lux-
ury, he said about the van.
Mr. Walsh bought the business of May of
1986 but he brought with him years of ex-
perience at several dealers aps.
He spent several years with Hankin Ford
in London, several more with Truck
Engineering Ltd. in Woodstock and then
moved on to Nankin Motors Pontiac Buick in
Kincardine - where he -spend `five good
years."
His wife Mhairi owns the Kitchen Witch
while brother Dave operates Dave's But-
cher Block.
The dealership itself has a history which
dates back to the mid 1920's. Over the years
it has undergone several transformations
which saw it as an American Motors dealer-
ship under owner . Heinz Walpole, and
General Motors when Bill Irwin and Wayne
Peachman operated the business.
Mr. Walsh also operates a marine ser-
vices business out of his dealership. "We
have the staff to- compliment any kind of
marine services and the reason is because
of the popularity of the fishing derbies," Mr.
Walsh said.
Mike Walsh Chev-Olds has 11 staff
members to its- credit: They include owner
Mike Walsh, sales rep Tom Thompson,
secretary treasurer Sally Harrison, service
manager. Merrill Gottschalk, parts
