Unintentionally omitted last Wednesday

was the name of Mrs. Thomas Henderson of
Kincardine from the fair results. This was
reported to me by Mrs. Maryann Forster of
Point Clark. For a member of years snow,
Mrs, t 1 enderson has been a valued con-
tributor to the indoor Rall fair exhibits in the
Ripley r uron Complex • Centre.
Maryann is the convenor of the directors
in charge of the Domestic Science Class.
Along with her are lady rectors Ruby
Walden, ,:garb Messenger, Pat Chatham and
Alice Gamble.
The summary for most points awarded in
the section for pickles, preserves, jams and
jellies was first place to Mrs. John Howard,
of 1 Kincardine, second place.Mrs. Thos.
Henderson of Kincardine and third to Sheila
Osborne of concession 4 Huron Township,
two blocks south of Ripley.
We would like Mrs. Henderson to know
that we appreciate her work in presenting a
fine display at the Ripley Huron Fall Fair in
the Complex,
Canvass for the blind
Dan A, MacDonald wishes everyone in the
Ripley Huron area to know that Ripley and
District Lions Club are holding a district
canvass tonight (Wednesday) for funds for
the blind.

President of the Ripley gaud District Lions,
Bill Robinson, called last week to say that
the Ripley Lions were joining with the clubs
in Lucknow, Formosa, Teeswater,
Wingham and Brussels ¢ six clubs - in
holding the "Walk -A- og-athon" in
Wingham at 1 p.m. on Sunday October 5 - its
purpose to raise funds for training `Seeing
Eye Dogs". .
Historical society annual meeting
A note from Gwen Harrison tells that the
ruce County Historical Society Annual.
meeting and banquet will be in the Elmwood
Community Centre on Wednesday, October
22, If enough are interested there will be a
bus. Contact Bill Collins 395-5279 or Win-
nifred Robinson 396-2535.
Arthritic campaign successful
Mrs. Sadie McLeod is at present on an ex-
tended
xtended trip to the Western provinces and ex-
pects to visit several members enroute.
Before leaving a week ago last Tuesday
morning, she reported that the campaign
for the, Arthritis Society had been completed
successfully in this district. Sadie's personal
report is 'as follows.
'Once again 'it is my, pleasure as Cam-
paign Chairman of this worthy cause to ex-
press my thanks to those who donated to•this
campaign, because without these donations
our canvass would not be a success.'
The Happy Hearts Senior Citizens Club
sponsored this campaign along with as
number of interested citizens in Ripley.
Much appreciation goes to the following
volunteers who did the collecting:
Mrs. Verna Finlayson, Mary Worthington,
Minriie Lock, Marion Gamble, Shirley
Dewar, Pey Chappell, Judy MacLeod, MVIarj
Thompson, Eileen MacDonald, Gladys
Huston, Adeline Hackett, John C. Mac-
Donald, Clarence Hedley, Mr. and Mrs,
Donald Gillies, Carl Guse, Mr. and Mrs,
John W. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brooks
and anyone else who helped in other ways.
Our collections this year were $1471.22,
well over our objective. Again, to all from
your Campaign Chairman, thanks from
Sadie McLeod.
Eight tables of euchre
Eight tables of euchre played at the
Legion Hall on Monday afternoon a week
ago, with the winners being Wanda Gawley
Annie Irwin, Jim Brook, and Bertha Tout. h
was decided to have euchres .every seconc
Monday from here on. The second one wa,
on Monday this week October 6. Our thank
goes to John W. and Mary Scott for repor
ting these games.
Library amnesty week
Our Ripley and area librarian Mrs. Judi
Hawrylyshyn .reportsthat next week Oc•
tober 11 to 18 is Amnesty Week. So at
patrons - please return all overdue books tc
the Ripley Library in the Ripley Legion Hat
in that, period. Also Judy reports sore(
children's cassettes with read -along books.

Enrolled at Georgian
Miss Christine Nicholson, daughter of Ron
and Lynn Nicholson of Ripley, is enrolled in
Georgian College at Barrie. Here Chris is
taking, the course in Hotel and Resort
Management in response to . the publicity
given to the tourist industry - the upcoming
thing. She made it home this past weekend
to clerk in her mother's Superior Market.
Now with Ontario Hydro
While at the Ron Nicholson Ripley
Welding and Machine . Shop, next door
neighbour to the Royal Bank and to the Ab
Wylds house, here we learned that Doug
Martyn, who has been a welder and iron
worker there with Ron, is now with Ontario
Hydro.

The Ontario Pork Industry Improvement
Plan is a new five-year management pro-
gram designed to make your pork operation
more efficient and profitable.
The plan provides capital grants for a
wide range of improvements in both produc-
tion and financial management .
There are grants available for ventila-
tion materials, scales,loading chutes, herd
health programs, artificial insemination,
rodent control, record-keeping and tuition
costs.
You must have a minimum of 20 sows
or market at least 300 market -weight hogs
annually to qualify.
If you haven't already received the OPIIP

for an enrollment form and details of the plan.
