Many Thanksgiving activities
Lucknow Central has been buzzing with
busy students this week.
The Kindergarten pupils had a gym
class with the Grade 8 students that are in
the Family Studies group. Grade 8 taught
the kindergartens a the
game and the
kindergartens taught the Grade 8s a game.
They have also learned the colour
"orange". Mrs. Lash had "Early Iden-
tification Fall Interviews" with the
parents of the students,
The Grade 1 class is starting a new unit
on "Harvest Medley," They have made
beautiful autumn trees with tissue paper
as well as leaf tracings. They are also.
working hard ppn their part in the
Thanksgiving Assembly. Jonathon McKin-
non is "Special Me" this week.
The Grade 2 class has been busy making
hat and shoe books. Half the class worked
with Mrs. 1Vlaclntyre making shoe books.
They bought in different types of shoesto
look at. The other half worked with Mrs.
Black making hat books. They too brought
in different hats to look at,: Thanksgiving
Activities are underway and will keep
them busy this week.
Insects
Grade 3 finished their Insect Unit with a
big test on everything they learned and are
now starting to make their good copies of-
booklets entitled, "If I were..." The unit
they are working on now is on Thanksgiv-
ing. Already they have made the horn of
plenty.
Mrs. Broad and the Grade Four class
continues to keep themselves very busy.
They, are working on. a Thanksgiving Play
and have been reading to Aunt Agatha, the
puppet.. They have some excellent joke
tellers who entertain them at lunch. Not
only did they make Provincial Flowers but
Mrs. Broad's Grade 4 class is also trying to
"walk" to the library. Each time a student
reads a book they record it on :a paper shoe
which then is put on the wall or ceiling toe
to heel, Eventually they hope •the line of
footprints will make a path to the Library.

Survived Math Test
In the Grade 5 class they had their first
math test and the majority survived it.
Congratulations Grade 5.
At the Open House there were several
activities in the Grade 6 classroom. One
was "How old is the cucumber. The winner
was Colin Humphrey who guessed two
years old. Another was "What use do I
have for this machine. Several guessed'
right and are as follows: Sharon Pike,
Donna Sutton; Daniel Jones, Chris Hum-
phrey, Dwayne Harris, Mitchell Harris,
Adrian . Helm. They all guessed it was a
nutcracker. Another was "How many
seeds in this sunflower head, the correct
answer was 2260, first was Daniel Jones .-
2000, second .was Evans Helm 1869, third
was Clint Murray -1800. The last activity
was "Guess the weight of the pumpkin".
There were 3 pumpkins,; A.B.C. The cor-
rect answers and winners are as follows:
A -598g - There was a' tie for ,first: Donna
Sutton, , Lucas Thacker, Adrian Helm;
B -471g -first, Lucas Thacker, second, Don-
na Sutton, third, Jack Mali, Shelia Clark;
C -282g - first Jack. Mali, Shelia Clarke,
third Donna Sutton.
In the Grade 7 class,• Mr. McKeon en-
joyed meeting the parents at the Open
House
"Pion• eer Project"
The Grade 8 classes have been busy this
week starting a new "Pioneer Project" in
History and are finishing the "Interdepen-,
dance of living things" unit. They, have had
the opportunity to evaluate a real live
system of interdependance. The boys. seem
to be enjoying Family Studies and in In-
dustrial Arts, the girls and boys are work-
ing hard.: The girls are divided into three
groups: Wood, Crafts, and Metal. In wood
they are working on a book rack and .a
