at Kairshea WI meeting

neighbouring groups were invited:
Lucknow Afternoon and Evening,
Whitechurch, Kinlaugh and Ashfield. Mrs.
Evan Keith was hostess.
The president, Mrs. Allan MacDougall,
welcomed all members and visitors and
read a Hymn of Praise as the Call of Wor-
ship. The opening hymn was followed by
prayer by the president. Mrs. Herb
Buckton gave a special Thanksgiving
meditation - We have so much for which
to be thankful. Mrs. Bruce Colwell gave
thanks, in singing a song accompanied by
Mrs. John Forster.
Mrs. Harry Lavis reported on the bus
trip to Cape Croker and Saugeen Reserves
on September 29. Eighty-eight ladies from
Maitland Presbyterial and several from
the United Church were on the tour. All en-
joyed the meal served by the Indian ladies
at Cape Croker and the interesting talk by
Mrs. Irene Akiwenzie - also the stop at the
Chippawa Church and ampitheatre.
Mrs. Evan Keith gave a brief report of
the Board Meeting at Bluevale. The theme
was Stewardship.
Mrs.. Lloyd MacDougall gave the
treasurer's report for Mrs. Fraser
MacKinnon who in London HospiA,
Mrs. Ira Dickie introduced the guest
speaker, Mrs. Lillian Thompson of Mar-
ton. Four teachers from Canada were
4porfisored by the Teacher's 'Federation to
improve teaching standards by training
young elementary teachers in G..mbia,
West Africa. They taught there for the first
three months of t; )7s year. In her in-
teresting talk she told of life in Gambia
where the very friendly people dance and
sing in the mi.t of grinding poverty,
disease and corruption. The climate is
very hot and dry. She showed slides and
had many articles including batik work,
carvings, paintings and hand -made
leather items.
Mrs. Evan Keith thanked Lillian and
presented her with a gift which she said
would be used to send garden seeds back to
Gambia for school gardens.
A duet by Mrs. John Forster and Mrs.
Bruce Calwell, accompanied by Mrs.
Leonard Clarke was much enjoyed.
The offering was received and dedicated
by Mrs. Jim Burt.
The closing hymn was sung followed by
prayer by Mrs. Ramsay, the grace, and
lunch served by the hostess and directors.
Meals on Wheels committee meets
• The'Lucknow Meals. on Wheels Commit-
tee met on October 1 at Pinecrest Manor
with 10 members present:
It was reported that during September
132 meals were served,to clients. Two new
small coolers h* been purchased and
also hot packs to be used by volunteer
drivers to deliver meals as hot as possible.

It was recommended that each driver
ask their own runner to accompany them
to speed up delivery. New clients and hew
drivers are always welcome.
Members are to bring Christmas ideas
to the next meeting which will be held on
November 5 -at 9:30 a.m.
