Woman patient in hospital
Betty Bowers is a patient in Goderich
hospital, intensive Care Unit, following ad-
mittance Sunday niorning.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. !"ay
Ulch, nee Shelley Dugal, who were mar-
ried on Saturday in 'Windsor. They are
honeymooning in Northern Ontario.
Guests were present from Myth, Lucknow,
D: gannon as well as Detroit.
Bill and Marie Park and Brad and
Elmer and Gail Cook and Kevin attended
the baptism on Sunday, at St. George's
Anglican Church, of Jordan William
Douglas Henry, two -month-old son of Ted
and .Vicki Henry. Other relatives were
present from Simcoe, Toronto the Ripley
area as well as locally. All enjoyed a lovely
luncheon at the Henry home following the
service.
Company on Wednesday and overnight
with Jim and Margaret Errington were
Ford and Mary Tremaine of Elk Lake in
Northern Ontario.
A meeting was held on Monday morning
at the home of Margaret Errington, to
discuss plans for the upcoming Seniors
turkey supper to be held October 10.
There were 12 tables of euchre at the
seniors centre on Wednesday evening.
High lady was Lois Haggitt, while the low
score went to Beatrice Jewell. High man
was Bert Russell with John Harris having
the low score.
Congratulations to the following
September birthdays and all Septembei
celebrants. Mary Schultz, Frank
Pentland, Maribeth Dawson, Angela
Woods, Michael McNee and Jeffrey
MeNee.
Irvine and. Colleen Eedy and Ralph and
Lucille Henderson of Goderich enjoyed a
family gathering in Walkerton on Sunday
at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Eldon Yundt.
Margaret Mole is a great-grandmother
for the sixth time, as granddaughter Vicki
and husband Brian Hoover of Kincardine
became parents of a baby girl on Friday at
St. Joseph's .Hospital, London. The baby
was born on her grandmother Lois(Mole)
Walden's birthday.
We welcome to our area Mr. and Mrs.
Dan Green and family who have moved to
the 4th concession of Ashfield to the house
recently vacated by the LaVerne Martin
family.
Margaret Mole has returned home after
helping out last week at the home of
daughter Nancy in Exeter. Son-in-law
Jack Philips was a patient in University
Hospital, London and grandson Jason was
a patient in Exeter hospital, both suffering
from a virus which has been prevalent in
our area.

The Dungannon Women's Institute held
• their September meeting in the Dungannon
United Church. •
Visitors were present from St. Helen's In-
Stitute 'and Tiger Dunlop as well as two
• ladies • from Goderich. The president,
Elmira Finnigan, welcomed all and opened
the meeting. Roberta Linskill presided as
pianist,
The roll call,•a custom or news item from
another country, was answered by 16
'members and once again we realize how for-
tunate we are to live in Canada.
The secretary -treasurer read minutes and

A motion was made to help the 4-H leaders
with expenses of the fall club, Milk Makes
• It. Dungannon Institute sponsor clubs,
Dungannon I and II and Port Albert.
Donna Young introduced her sister-in-
law, Mrs. Andrew Moore of Goderich, who
showed beautiful pictures and described
their travels across Canada. She had many
beautiful pictures of sunsets and several
scenes:around home. She was thanked by
Willetta McWhinney and presented with a
Cheque.
Dinah was served by Olive Chisholm,
Mary Robson, Dorothy Harris, Elmira Fin-
nigan and Tinie Logtenborg and a social
time enjoyed. •
• Fun and Fellowship meeting held
The Dungannon UCW Fun and. Fellowship
meeting was held in. Goderich, at the home
of Donna Alton, Sept 10. Former members
of the Dungannon UCW were invited.
A delicious dessert luncheon, prepared by
Jean Errington and Donna Alton, •was en-
• joyed by all.
•• President Nora Sauncfers opened the
meeting by reading Everlasting ratner.
After a prayer, a minute silence was observ-
ed in remembrance of the late Dorothy Err-
ington and Martha Curran. •
A short business meeting followed, Helen
Dawson gave the treasurersrenort. Notice

Roll Call was answered, by naming the of-
fices members had held in the Dungannon
United Church.
Dorothy Pentland then capably conducted
the fun part of the meeting. She read a com-
ical poem, He Was Not Able. Two games
were played with a poem, The Monkey Tree
following. After two additional games,
prizes were given out and she concluded
with The Story of A Minister.
Milk Monsters hold meeting
The first meeting of the Dungannon 1 4-H
club was held at the home of Mrs. Joanne
Sproul.
The meeting was opened with the 4H
pledge. We then decided to call ourselves
Milk Monsters, Mrs, Sproul explained to
the five new members What the re-
quirements are to get the plaque or the
bar, for the Milk Makes It club. She then
taught the lesson on bone building, and we
discovered that most of us are eating the
correct arnount of calcium. We also learn-
ed how a lack of calcium can cause
Osteoporosis; a condition .that causes
bones to become thin and weak. After the
lesson was completed we chose club of-
ficers, which are as follows: Laurie
Pentland president Debbie Nivins vice-
president and Karen Bakker Secretary.
It was then to kitchen and everyone Par-
ticipated in making a Mexican Salad. The
Milk 1VIonsters will hold their next meeting
at the home of Barry and DebbieiNivins.
