In addition, # Ripley area man has been charged stemming from an investigation into a break and enter at the Ripley Senior Public School and a Ripley business outlet. All men are to appear. in Kincardine Crirninil Court to answer to the charges. The marine patrols cO'nducted by the Kincardine OPP in August' also saw a number- of persons charged under the Small Vessels Regulations for offences ranging from life jacket infractions to improper vessel registrations. The Small Vessel Regulations are federal laws and the persons charged must also appear in court. Clean roof vehicles Due to the vast areas which the OPP police, the Force is required to buy large quantities ofl gasoline to operate their vehicles. In the last fisCal year, for example, the OPP purchased about 18,5 million litres of gasoline. In an attempt to reduce consumption and thereby cut costs, the OPP recently implemented • a "Clean Roof Vehicle PEC IAL Project" and the Kincardine Detachment was one of a number of test detachments involved. These •ffices were supplied with a number of these vehicles in which the emergency lights were removed from the roof and placed on the front grill and inside the front and rear windows. The reasoning behind •this was to lessen the vehicles wind resiStanee. While the study has not been finalized, initial results reflect a reduction in gasoline •consumption. For example, during a four month period from November 1986 through to February 1986, clean roof Ford cruisers realized an eight to 15 per cent improve- ment in fuel consumption over the standard configuration Fora. With respect to safety, test cruisers were involved in five collisions in 620,441 kin of travel but no collision could be attributed to the absence of lights. °Tilrc,•M.0 esskst.:ssft,.. • s. • • SUNLIGHT • * Liquid Detergent 1 LT: KNECHTEL ASS'T FLAVOURS N4BISCO Shr0 e eat.. • • Cat Food. 184 g.
