Machans tell sof Australia
On September 16 -the Evening Auxiliary
of the Presbyterian -C-hurch met- in -the
church hall for a pot -luck supper.
The Afternoon WMS Ladies and our
husbands were guests to make a total of
43 present.
Mrs. Jack MacDonald called the meeting
to order with a reading which urged us •to
do our best at all times. After hymn 42 had
been sungour guest speakers were intro- .
duced.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Machan told of their
experiences in Australia and New Zealand
last February. They had visited Sydney,
Canberra, Melbourne, Auckland, Christ-
church and Rotarun. They showed us
attractive pictures and interesting souven-
irs such as native carvings and boomer-
angs. The members also tasted a delicious-
Australian dessert.
The evening auxiliary is indeed grateful
-to Mr. and Mrs. Ron Machan for their
kindness. in speaking to the members. Mrs.
'Ramsay graciously thanked them for their
presentation.
Mrs. William Henderson played a lovely
arrangement of "The Bells of St. Marys".
Mrs. James Aitchison led in the Bible
Study, telling how the disciples lost control
in the rough sea but were saved when they
--calleiroutfo Jesus. In the same way we can
lose control as the unknown approaches •us
unless we heed Christ's voice through the
turmoil of daily living.
The members are invited to attend the
Thankoffering meetings at Lucknow Octo-
ber 8 and at Ashfield on October'19.
The offering was accepted with the
singing of We Give Thee but Thine 'Own.
The meeting closed with another hymn and
the Mizpah benediction.

Theatre show coming to library
Enter the magical world of Maggie
Muggins and her friends as they come to
town in the delightful children's play,
"Tale of the Blue Dragon". •
The Touring Players' Theatre brings the
familiar characters of Maggie Muggins,
Mr. McGarrity and Fitzgerald Fieldmouse
to public libraries in the area. The play
deals with Maggie's adventures on, of all
things, a blue China dish. And, as life so
often shows us, "nothing is as it seems to
be".
Sponsored by the Bruce County . Public
Library, with the assistance of the
Outreach Ontario program of the Ministry
of Citizenship and Culture, the Touring
Players' Theatre will perform at the
Lucknow Library, on Monday, September
29, 1986 at 7:30 p.m.
The Touring Players' Theatre of Oshawa
was established in 1983 as a professional
theatre for young people. Since then, the
group has toured extensively throughout
Ontario, focusing on classics in children's
literature.
