Delicious dessert and tea served to WI

The Lucknow ,Women's Institute held
their September meeting in the Town Hall
on Tuesday, September 9.
.JitA delicious&dessert.. andh tea, was,: served
by the committee in charge namely, Lois.
Goodhue, Winnie Fisher and Dora Brooks.
Dorothy Brown chaired the meeting and
opened with two poems. The opening Ode
and .the Collect,were repeated. The roll call
was "Tell a Joke". This proved very
humorous as well as interesting. The
minutes of the last meeting and the
business was dealt with by Jean Whitby,
the secretary. An invitation was read from
Whitechurch WI to attend their meeting on
October 8. A discussion on quilts and also
a float for the Lucknow Fairwas 'held-.
The Rally is to be held at Sauble Beach on
October 16.
Tillie Wilson gave her report on the area
convention which she and Kay McIntosh
had attended. Lois Goodhue was in charge
of the program. She gave a reading. Dora

Books gave the Motto "One tree can make
a million matches but one match can
destroy a million trees". Dorothy Brown
and Lois Goodhue gave readings and
conducted two contests.
'Mrs:-Rev.-eoolr-was-a guest and judged
the weed corsages. Dorothy Brown won the
prize. Mrs. Cook .gave a demonstration on
rug hooking which was informative. She
was thanked by Dora Brooks and presented
with a gift. •
The meeting closed with the Queen.
Over the next few months, The .

possible, but inevitable:
