Metzger - Powell
Susan Catherine Powell, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Ed Powell of. Wingham and
Kenneth Rodney Metzger, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Metzger -of Lucknow were
married on August 16, 1986 at the
Wingham United, Church. Rev. Cecil
Jardine of London and Rev. Rea Grant
officiated. The organist was Mrs. Winona
• Thompson and the soloists were Beth and
Lori • Gingrich. Maid of honour was
- Marjorie Powell, the bride's sister and
• bridesmaids were Kathleen Walsh, Linda
- Mactionikt, Lisa Lazarus and. Frankie
Renwick, aIl friends of the bride. GroomS--
•man was Keith Metzger, brother or the
groom and ushers were Jim Laidlaw, Jeff
White, Howie Martin and John Wagler, all
• friends of "the groom, Following a dinner at
• the Wingham United •Church and '-a
. reception at the Powell. farm, ,the "couple
left on, a honeymoon in New York. The
couple are, residing in Guelph.
'Jerome - Messenger
Philip Jerome of Lucknow and Christie
Messenger of RR 5 Lucknow were married
on July 4, 1986 at St. Luke's Anglican
Church, Lurgan, with Rev,' E. J. Francom
officiating, The couple were piped out of
the church by Frank IVIacItenzie. The maid
of honor was Dianne Henry. of Windsor.
The bridesmaidswere Margot Messenger
of RR 5 Lucknow and Sherri Jerome of
Lucknow. The flower girl was Jamie.
Messenger, daughter of Doug and Noreen
Messenger of Witigham. The groomsman
was Sandy Liddle of RR 1 Ripley. The
ushers were Doug Messenger of Wingham
and Paul Jerome of Guelph. The reception
was held at. the ' Lucknow Community
Centre,, •The couple will be taking their
wedding trip to Kentucky in October. Mr.
and Mrs. Jerome are currently residing in
Lucknow. •
Stevenson wins golftourne
Doug Stevenson: of. MacKenzie–and
McCreath Funeral Homes attended the
Georgian Bay Funeral. Directors Golf
Tournament on Wednesday in Walkerton.
Doug won the trophy which is given out
everyyear fcir the low score and also a new
Golf Bag, '
Dong had the low- score of 81, with The
next lowest being 84.4t was one of the best
days for golfing, and over 60 sat down for a
,
smorgasbord' dinner at the banquet hall

WMS meet at Camp Kint
for September meeting

September meeting of South Kinloss
W.M.S. held at Camp Kintail on Septeim.

The weather was beautiful and 18
members and eight visitors arrived before
noon. While folks were gathering, Harold
Campbell and Ira, Dickie with violins, Lloyd
MacDougall on banjo and Blanche Need-
ham at the piano played several hymns and
favourite tunes.
After the Grace by Rev. A. Ramsay, all
enjoyed the sandwiches they had brought
with tea and coffee provided by the
hostess, Mrs. Clarke, and desserts served
by the directors, Mrs, Ramsay and Mrs,
Dickie.
The president, Mrs. Allan lviacDougall,
welcomed all and opened the meeting with
a poem. Rev, Robert Faris, director, added
his welcome at Camp Kintail and told of
the activities carried on there this summer.
.The guest speaker, Mrs. Mary McIn-
tosh, was introduced by Mrs. Ira Dickie.
With the use of maps she traced the bus
tour route and told of the interesting places
and people they visited. New Zealand is
very mountainous. Sheep farming is
carried on e?ctensively, The outback in
Australia was hot and dry and there was
little to see as they crossed it. The cities of
Sydney and Melbourne were very interest -
The
speaker was thanked by Mrs. Evan
Keith.
- The musical group played a few more
numbers which were much enjoyed. The
offering was received and dedicated by
Mrs. John Mowbray.

The minutes and correspondence were
read. An invitation was received from
Ashfield 'WMS to attend their Fail Thank.
offering meeting October 19 at 8 p.m. Mrs.
Fraser MacKinnon gave the treasurer's
report. About $400 is needed to meet our
allocatiora. Mrs. Evan Keith gave the
Ladies' Md report. A generous donation
had been received from Mrs. W. F.
MacDonald.
It was decided to extend invitations to
Lucknow Afternoon and Evening. Ashfield,
Kinlough and Whitechurch to attend the
South Kinloss Thankoffering ron October 1..
Lillian Thompson of Wiarton will speak of
her experience teaching teachers in Africa,
Mrs. Jack Needham, Mrs. Harold Howald
and Mrs, Herb Buckton will assist the
directors Tor this meeting.
Due to a letter received from Revenue
Canada a motion was made and passed
• that we return to December 31 as our
financial year end.
The group then 'moved to the outdoors
chapel for the worship service. Mrs.
Ramsay had a thoughtful meditation on
honesty, based on Romans 12:17. Paul was
telling new believers how to live a
Christian life. Mrs. Leonard Clarke read
the scripture, from Romans 12 and Mrs,
Harold Campbell, Mrs. Harry Lavis and
Mrs. Leonard TvlacInnes took part in the
Prayer Circle.
Mrs. Ira Dickie gave a brief review ofthe
Glad Tidings especially noting the change
in the Aim and Purpose of the WIVIS. She
also read two short poems
Another hymn . was sung and Mrs.
Ramsay closed the meeting with prayer.
