board of health for the county,, said the

other applicants for the position. However,
the board recently received a letter from
Dr. Fan, stating he was unable to take the
jab because of "problems with immigra-
tion".
The decision to hire Dr. Fan was based
upon good recommendations made by the
Associate Deputy Minister of the govern-

St. Joseph's Community School in
Kingsbridge has a new principal this year -

A teacher and a principal in the separate
school system for 18 years, Mr. Murphy
started his teaching career at St. Michael's
school in Toronto for five years before
becoming the principal at St. Patrick's
Separate school in Kinkora. For the past
five years, before coming to St. Joseph's,
he was the principal at St. Patrick's
Separate School in Dublin.

A better place.
'I'm looking forward to working with the
students' and teachers.. Making a good
school" involves a team effort of teachers,
priest, custodians and secretaries all
working together for the betterment of the
students," he said.
To that end, .Mr. Murphy says he intends
tp implement a weekly assembly for the
students and teachers to get 'together and
communicate about, the school.
It will be an opportunity to communi-'
cate to oneanother, to talk about .what's
going right and -what's going wrong in
order to work together -to deal with the
situation," he said.'

province to another. Mr. McBurney said
Dr. Fan currently has landed i numigrant

year-to-year basis in Newfoundland. Whe
he applied. he assured the board he wo

the position. said Mr. McBurney, following
the meeting on September 4.
Mr. McBurney said the board of health
will continue to look for a new MOH and
hope to have someone in that position by
November, or December of this year. One
option the board is currently investigating
is hiring a fall graduate of the University of

recommend some of the people graduating
in September. We don't have any names as
yet." said Mr. Me urnney following the
meeting.

the position on July 22. citing differences
with the county administration as 'the
reason for his resignation.

the officials and workers connected with
the health unit says, Mr. McBurney.
"The acting MOH situation has been
working out very well. The directors (of the
health unit) are well pleased," he said.
