Association to hold first meeting In association with the Ontario March of Dimes, the Grey/Bruce/Habil Post -Polio Association will have its first meeting on Saturday, September 6, at 100 p.mat the Hanover and District Hospital; 90 7th Avenue, Hanover. People who had polio many yeaiteitgo are experiencing perplexing new problems as they get older, in order to meet this growing concern, a support group is being founded to disseminate information about the Late Effects of Poliomyelitis, to encourage medical research, to educate physicians and health professionals and to serve as a resource centre for information sharing, Membership is open to any interested person, Lucknow seniors encouraged to join Day Centre programs By Jean Axbuckle We now are preparing our fall programs at the Centre and the September program calends are available., Those seniors in the Lucknow area who do not regularly participate in the day centre program are encouraged to pick up a monthly calendar at the Centre which is located in the Wingham Armouries and then choose the programs in which you would like to participate. One of our fall activities will be our semi-annual flea market on. Saturday, September 6. Anyone interested in renting a table can contact the centre at 3574440 or 3574445, The proceeds fromthe table rentals will be used in the daily operation of the Centre. The next foot clinics are scheduled for September 3 and 18 from 1 - 3:00 p.m. The foot clinics are staffed by the Community Nursing Services of Belgrave and co-ord. inated by the darcentre. Anyone wishing to participate in this service which has a small fee should contact the centre for an appointment time. Since many of us have not been fortunate enough to attend Expo '86, one of our volunteers will show her slides of her holiday at the Centre on Thursday, Septeimber 11. 1 am sure the clients will find the slides both enjoyable and informa- tive, Numerous guest speakers will be attending the Centre this fall. One such person is Mr, Paul Weitendorf of the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority. tie will visit the Centre on Wednesday, September 17 and present an illustration on the various services they offer in this area. The upcoming months are shaping up to be very busy ones at the Centre with guest speakers, films and planning for our annual Christmas craft and bake sale - and September is no exception. So, if anyone would like to participate in day programs during the month of September please call the Centre at 35771440 or 357-1445. Lions Ladies executive meeting held recently The executive meeting •on August 26 at Marlene Bergman's was attended by seven members .of the Lucknow Lions Ladies Club. Teams for the 86-87 season were formed. October 21 was the date set for the ladies pot luck supper at 6:30 p.m. Team 3 will convene the first meeting of the season on September 8. Team 1 will be in charge of the September -22 meal. Lunch was served following the meeting.
