Miss Dungannon 'Fair for 1986.
Miss Denise Maize, the 1985 Dungannon
Fair Queen crowned Vicki Pentland,
daughter of Nellie Pentlandas the .new
queen while Kay Edward, daughter of.
John and Sharon Edward was chosen as
first runner-up and Heather Curran,
daughter of Stuart and Cathy Curranwas
second runner-up. Cindy Robson, daughter .
of Roy and Mary Robson was chosen as
Miss Friendship by a vote from all of the
contestants.
Vickie Pentland will now represent Dun-
gannon
ungannon Fair at several functions during the'
year, including the Miss Mid -western
Ontario competition held in Lucknow and
the Miss C.N.E. competition held in
Toronto next August.
Break and enter. charges laid
The Kincardine Detachment of the
Ontario Provincial Police has charged two
Lucknow men as well as a Kincardine man
in connection with a series of break and
enters and wilful damages which occurred.
in Lucknow on June 27. The persons
responsible damaged a number of vehicles
and house property to the extent of $1,200.
A Lucknow woman was also charged
with a number of counts of "Uttering
Forged Documents" after the Kincardine
OPP received information from a Lucknow
area bank that a woman had passed what
appeared to be a number of forged
cheques. The woman .is to appear in
Kincardine Provincial Court to answer to
the charges.
Intersection
The Kincardine OPP investigated two
more accidents at the. intersection of
Highway 9 and 21 in July. While there
were no injuries, damage to the vehicles
was in excess of $8,000. On both occasions,
The drivers coming off Highway 9 had come
to a full stop but upon entering the inter -

Single car accident leaves
one dead, two in hospital
A single vehicle accident near Kincar-
dine resulted in one fatality and sent three
other local residents to hospital on August'
15, according to the Kincardine detach-
ment of the OPP. .
Dead. is Tracy Hill, 19, of RR 2
Bayfield. Ronald Kerr, 21, of Goderich was
taken to Saugeen Memorial "Hospital in
Southampton and transferred to Grey-
Bruce Regional . Health Centre in Owen
Sound, He was later taken to Hamilton
General Hospital and is listed in serious
condition, Martha Curran, 19, of RR 1
Dungannon, is in critical condition at
Victoria Hospital in London. The driver of
the car, Thomas Park, 26, of Dungannon
was treated and released from the
Grey -Bruce Regional Health Care Centre
in Owen Sound.
Police said the accident occurred on
concession Road 8, about 4.5 km. west of
Highway 21 at 1 amt. Saturday morning.
Thevehicle, a 1984 Chev. Camero, was
westbound on the concession road when it
gradually left the road on the north side,
striking a railway crossing sign and ,an
embankment. The vehicle was airborne for
approximately 16 metres and rolled several
times, coming to rest on a field access
road. All four occupants were thrown from
the vehicle.
Damage to the Park vehicle was listed at
$6,000. •
A private family funeral service was held
for Tracy Hill :at 'the McCallum and Palla
Funeral Horne in Goderich on August 18.

'Lucknow council gave the go.ahead to
apply for a government grant for renova-
tionsJoAhe town hall basement at their
council meeting on August12.
Clerk Bertha . W hitcroft will apply for a
grant through the Community Facilities
Improvement Grant. The amount of the
grant applied for is $21,000 with the
estimated cost of the project at $42,000. If
the grant is, approved, ..work on the base-
ment could begin by November and be
finished by April of next year.
Mutual Aid
A letter from Harley Gaunt, the Fire
Chief in Wingham; was forwarded to
council by. Lucknow Fire Chief Bud
I3ainilton which brought to council's
attention a 1984 by-law which would allow
the Wingham fire department to come into
the Lucknow fire area. in case of an
emergency;
However, council agreed they would
have to seek approval from the Bruce
County Mutual Aid, of which Lucknow is a
member, before striking an agreement
with the Wingham Fire Department,
"X'm in agreement, but it has to go
farther than this municipality. It'll have to
go to the'Bruce County Mutual Aid," said
Councillor Ab Murray.
Mr. Murray said under the current
agreement with Bruce County, the 'Tees -
water Fire department would be called in
to an emergency without charges to the
municipality.
No dumping
In response to an ongoing problem at the
closed Lucknow dumpsite, council motion-
ed town foreman Gary Austin to. erect a
"no dumping" sign at the site.
Mr. Austin, who attended the meeting,
said there was incidents of people dumping
more than the allowable brush and leaves
at the site. In response, council will make a
decision on whether to add another "large
iterirt" pick up in the fall.
Zoning by-law
,Alan Andrew of Lucknow attended the
council meeting to ask questions about the
new zoning by-law 'proposed for the
village.
Mr. Andrew inquired about the lot sizes
for the village which will be affected by the
by-law change. Under the new by«law, the
minimum size of lots will be changed from
56 x 100 to 66 x 165.
"There's a number of lots in town with
less than 66 feet of frontage. If this by-law
comes into effect, what will you do with all

Reeve Clark `said someone `wishing to
build will have to purchase two lots as the
frontage size has been increased in order
that proper sewers can be established on
these lots.
Council received a letter from the Grey
Bruce Arts Council requesting Lucknow to
join the newly formed Arts and Artists
Committee in Greyr•Bruce. Council referred
the request to Bruce County Council. ,
A letter was received from Bill Hutch. i-
son with the Ministry of the Environment
concerning the water problems experienc- .
ed ' by Lucknow in late July.
In his' letter, Mr. Hutchison advised
council that the only . way to prevent a
