Relatives gather to celebrate recent graduation
Km. Dennis Brace and Travers, Mrs.
Gerald Rhody , Allan, Matt, Brad, Dawne
and Elaine Rhody of here and Mt.. and
Mrs. Gordon Saunders of Dungannon
attended the graduation of (Debbie) Mrs.
Allan Rhody at the Sutton Park, Kincardine
on Friday afternoon. Debbie received her
nurses pin and diplonia and a red rose. A.
reception followed, We all extend our best
wishes and congratulations, Debbie.
Mrs. Jim Hodgins of here and her
daughters Tammy of Glencoe and Michele
of London visited at Vancouver with Mr.
and Mrs. Douglas Teixiera and also took in
Expo.
Mrs. Jean Hedley and Mrs. Nina
McDonald had a day hi Kitchener during
• the week.
Jamie Langford returned home to
Woodstock after spending a week here
with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson and
Lois.
Pastor and Mrs. M. Christensen had
their son Mr. and Mrs. Don Christensen
• and Janine of Milton on the weekend at the
manse here, They also had a few.friends in
on Saturday evening to celebrate Don's
birthday.
Visitors.with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Rhody
were Mr, and Mrs. Byron Stubbs of
Glencoe, Mrs. Ken Hollands of Millarton
and Mitay and Mandy MacDonald of the
Owen Sound area.
Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Tom McDonald were Mrs. Mary Stewart of
Millarton, Mr. and Mrs. Mac McDonald
and Jeffrey of Kincardine and Rev. J.
Honeyman of ruce teach.
The annual McDonald family reunion
was held on Saturday at the Kinloss
Community Centre with a pleasant time of
fun,, food and fellowship.
Mr. Arthur Haldenby enjoyed a holiday
with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiteside at
their cottage at Orillia.
Corporal Darrell Barr and Private
Maureen Carpenter of Air force base
Trenton visited With his grandmother,
Mrs. John Barr and other relatives on
Sunday. Donald Barr was also home for the
weekend from Waterloo. -
Mr. and Mrs, Don Bertrand and family
of Simcoe spent the weekend here with
Miss Winnifred Percy, Bill and Brian
Percy.
• WI meeting
• On Thursday, August 7 the Holyrood
Women's Institute held their meeting at
the home of Mrs. Frank Maulden begin-
ning with a picnic dinner. The Ode and
Grace were sung and the Mary Stewart
collect was repeated in unison.
Sixteen were present and enjoyed the
delicious meal, which was followed by the
meeting with the theme "International
Tear of Peace".
Mrs. Harold Smith was in charge and
extended a welcome to all present. All
joined in singing the Institute rally song.
The roll call was, One way to promote
peaee in our community.
Mrs. Douglas MeEwan read the minutes
of the June meeting and the July trip to
Southampton and also announced the trip
to Blyth on August 28. She also gave the
financial report and read the communica• -
tions which included an invitation to the
Kairshea Institute on August 21. A quilt
information booklet on quilts and quilting,
and a group display at the .Lucknow Fall
Fair and the 4-11 homemaking club, was
viewed. The September 4 meeting will be
their entertaining night in the hall when
they will have neighbouring Institutes as
guests. Area convention and rally delegat-
es were also chosen.
The director Mrs. Charles Murray was in
charge of the program. The motto was
• `Home is where peace must begin' and the
topic was "Faith and Religion help shape,
May-

and interesting papers. Ail enjoyed a
contest with Mrs. Frank Maulden winning
the prize. Donna Johnstone gave a
splendid talk on her recent trip to the 4-H
•conference at Centralia College. She was
thanked and presented with a gift in
appreciation.
The meeting closed with singing the
Women's Institute Carol and 40 Canada'.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Page returned home
from an enjoyable holiday in England with
relatives.
Sympathy is extended to Cliff and
• Mariorie Robb of Holvrood. Chester and
Velma Robb and Glen and Lois Stinson,
Gary and Susan of Hamilton in the death of
David Robb, formerly of our community.
The funeralwas on Sunday.,
Two bridal showers were held during the
Week for Miss Kim McArthur. On Tuesday
a community shower was held at the
• Kinloss Community Centre and on• Thurs-
day evening a congregational shower was
held at the Kinlough Pentecostal church.
Friends from here were sorry that Mrs.
Lillian Garratt had been in Kincardine and
District Hospital for two weeks, but is now
home and feeling better. The Garratts had
' their family hOme over the weekend at
their new Kincardine home.
Mr: and Mrs. Howard Whiteside and her
father, Mr. Arthur Haldenby, visited on
Thursday at Barrie with Rev. and Mrs.
Allan Haldetthy, The Whitesides and
Arthur' returned to Kinlough on Friday.
Friends and relatives from here extend
•congratulations to Mr, and Mrs. Wilbert
Haldenby of Toronto on- the occasion of
their 60th wedding -anniversary on August
18. Both are well known in our area as Vera
(Humphrey) .Haldenby taught in the
Westford Public School and Wilbert grew
up in Westford. They went to Toronto and
both taught school until their retirement a
few years. ago.
Mrs, Ronald Thacker spent a few days
with relatives at° their cottage at Honey
Harbour. ••
Mrs. Audrey Borthwick of St. Catharines
is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hodgins
and other relatives bete.
Mr. •and Mrs. Eric Thacker, Tara and
Alicia spent Sunday with London relatives.
Lucas has been having a holiday in London
and will come home during the week.
•The family of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Percy
each returned to their respective homes
after being here to help their parents
celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
A family dinner was held op Saturday
evening, August 2 at the Holyrood Hall
•followed by a " reception and dance at the
Lucknow Legion Hall, and, on Sunday
evening Mr. and Mrs. Glen Haldenby had
a pork barbecue for the family, relatives
and friends and neighbours.
Nathan Munro of Winnipeg is holidaying
• with Mr. and Mrs. Alex Percy and Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Haldenby and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bell of Islington
• visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson
and Lois. The Bells left on Monday for
Expo and will visit with their son there.
Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wilson of Stoney
Creek spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill MacPherson, Holyrood. Mrs.
MacPherson returned with them to Stoney
Creek for a visit.

William MacPherson, Holyrood were Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence Barker, Mitchell, Mr.
and Mrs. George Moore, Staffa,
