Calf club has
discussion on
dehorning
By Debbie Rintoul
The Lucknow Calf Club held their last
meeting at' the home of our leader, Ken
Mewhinney where wejudged a class of
steers and had a few reasons on each of bur
own opinions.
We then went into the house where we
discussed the proper and improper ways of
dehorning and what equipment was to be
used.
The next main topic of interest was the
"Reach for the Top" competition with our
team of Kim •Rintoul, Cathy Dow, Paul and
Steve Coultes. Along with this on our
minds we had the demonstration competi-
tion coming up in Clinton.
Since then we had practice for both. The
Reach for the Tbp which was held. in
Brussels on July 30 brought our team out,
losing only by 15 points to the Senior Dairy
Management team which went on to
competein the county finals.
Our demonstration on proper and
improper ways of dehorning tied for first
on August 5.
The next meeting is to be held August 12
at 7:30 p.m: at the home of Kiwi and
Debbie Rintoul where we will discuss
showmanship do's and don'ts, giving each

Julie and Bill Thompson, Billy Tucker and

Mulder, daughter of Fred and Alice
Mulder, Dungannon. Mile McNee, son of
Lynda McNee, was chosen as the first
