ELMER AVERY
A former resident of the Fourth conces-
sion of Huron township and one who return-
' ed each September from Toronto° to renew
acquaintance with the, Ripley Fall Fair
crowd and with writer Aby Wylds, Elmer
Avery passed away on Tuesday July.8,1986
in Toronto Western Hospital where he had
been a patient for several weeks. He was in
his 76th year.
Surviving is his wife the former Jean Hen-
dry of Tiverton to whom sympathy is ex-
tended at this time of bereavement.Elmer
was predeceased by his parents Mr. & Mrs.
Sam Avery and by his two brothers.
The funeral service was held at seven thir-
ty on' Thursday evening July 10, 1986 in the
Turner and Porter Funeral Home on Bloor
Street West in Toronto. About eleveno'clock
on Friday morning when the hearse from
Toronto arrived a graveside service was
held in the Ripley cemetery by Rev. Robert
Stokes of the Pine River. United Church in
charge.,
Serious ear accident
Just minutes after seven .o'clock on Mon-
day morning this week, July 14, thee 'fire
whistle in Ripley blew. Soon the fire vehicles
were headed north out of Ripley on the 15th
road. A serious accident involving a single
car had happened on the 12th concession
road in front of the Jim (Farmer) Mac -
Donald's place.
Steve Taylor of William Street in Ripley,
was trapped in the car and suffered severe
injuries. His father Bob is employed at the
Eeefway shop, corner of Highway 21 and
concession 5 north of Kincardine, Steve was
bringing the car back to Ripley when it
smashed into the bridge abutment. Kincar-
dine OPP answered the call and with Ripley
firemen assisted. The ambulance crew took
him to Kincardine and District Hospital
where' he was pronounced dead. Further
details at this time of writing,, Monday after-
noon - are not known. •
