Selects compete atArrtprior
Four local boys represented Lucknow
well with the Georgian. Bay Selects AAA
,hockey teamsduring a Canada Day hockey
tournament in Arnprior on June 27 to July
6.
Adam Skillen, 'son of Bruce and Dale
'Skilien; Chris Stevenson, son, of Doug and
Sue. Stevenson,. and Justin Murray, son of
Gerald and. Nancy Murray, play with _ :the
major Atom team while Brad Murray, also
a son of Gerald and Nancy Murray, plays
with ,the major .Pee Wee. team.
The major Atom team went through the
five game round robin play with a record of
two wins, two ties and one loss. They won
the semi-final game to advance to the
championship game which they lost to a
strong Ottawa Valley North team by a score
of9-5. .,
Justin Murray was named the Selects
Most Valuable Player in the championship
game. •
The major Pee Wee team had a round
robin record of two wins and three losses.
This eliminated the team from further play
in , the tournament,
Georgian Bay had five teams . advance
into the playoff round at the tournament
and were well represented in their first
year of competition. Teams at the tourna
Ment, which has been in operation for 10
years, were° from Ontario and Quebec /as
well as three teams from the northern
United . States'. A total of 57 teams
participated in nine different divisions at
. the tourney.
In addition, the Georgian. Bay major
• Atoms enjoyed a tour of the Chats Falls
Generating Station at Fitzroy Harbour and
the Hershey Chocolate Factory . at Smith
Falls. The Lucknow boys also enjoyed a •
swim and a barbeque at ° Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Dale's (nee Margaret Ann Murray),
formerly of Kinloss Township, and a sister
of Gerald Murray.
The last time to see all these boys in
action is this weekend on Saturday and
Sunday when they play their Last home
games in Wasaga Beach,

The Lucknow Squirt Fastball team
defeated Goderich for the first time this
year by a score of 12 - 11 .on June 4.

Chris Stevenson pitched the whole game
allowing six hits, walking 12 and striking
out 11.
Duayne Porter and Keith Todd had two
hits each for Lucknow. Darryl Gibson,
Steve Porter, Chris MacDonald, Justin
Murray and Stevenson had one hit each.
On June 26, Lucknow played Cargill to a
9-9tie, •

Keith Todd went the distance on the
mound striking out 11, -walking 14 and
allowed eight hits. -
Rob Crich and Clint Murray had three
hits each. Jason Stanley ` had two hits.
Keith Todd, Brad Rhody, Chad Stanley
and Duayne and Steve Porter had one hit
each.
On July 8, Lucknow defeated Tiverton 11
7.

' Clint Murray pitched six innings and
struck out six, walked 10 and allowed three
hits. Keith Todd pitched one inning,
stricking out two and walked seven.
Chris MacDonald led, Lucknow at batting
with two hits including a homer. Rob Crich
had two hits while Clint Murray, Keith
Todd, Jason Stanley, David Carter and
Dean Tiffin had one each.
