honeymoon later this week to find their Ashfield Township farm is for sale and the farm
machinery has been moved onto the front lawn for auction. Friends got together Sunday
morning after the wedding reception to move the machinery and put up the "for sale" sign,
but the prank wasn't complete until the red flannel underwear was flying from the flag pole.

Lions Ladies donate to Meals on Wheels
Several members of the Lucknow District
Lions Ladies met at Kwan's Chinese
Restaurant on Monday evening, June 9 for
their annual spring meeting.
After the delicious meal, President Dean
Agnew introduced the business on hand.
Secretary Barb Cranston shared the
minutes of the last meeting and treasurer,
Marlene Struthers stated the financial
status of the club. The club had a good year
catering and after several motions were
made in regards to the use of the money on
hand, $100 is to be donated to Meals on
Wheels; $1000 to the Lucknow Medical
Centre to purchase a piece of equipment
which will stay at the Centre and $250 to
the Business Men's Association to go
towards the Santa Claus Parade.
The new executive was introduced and
will begin their duties in the fall at the
annual pot luck dinner.
The next event the ladies will be busy
preparing for is the Tractor Pull in July.

al in the Diocese of Huron which she
attended. The great need for bales was
stressed; also support for St. Monica
House, Waterloo.
Edna Boyle gave the report of the
Deanery meeting which was held at St.
Peter's Church, Lucknow on June 3rd.
The roll call was answered with A man in
the Bible, and tell something about him.
This was very well answered with interest-
ing responses.

Father's Day and Mrs. Midford Wall gave
My Evening Prayer is My Daily Bread.
Mrs. Agnes Hodgins gave a humorous

May Boyle gave the missionary life story
of Bishop John Hordon, known as the
shepherd of Moosonee, who with his young
bride in 1851 endured the perilous voyage
by ship, to bring the gospel and spiritual
needs to the Indian people. He had to learn
the Cree language, translating the scrip-
tures and hymns by hand. It was made into
book form with a birchbark cover and tied
together with deer thongs. He also taught
the children as well as holding services in
both Cree and English. He also compiled a
hymnal in Cree, teaching them to sing and
hold services.
Following the courtesy remarks Rev.
Merelyn Letson closed the meeting with
prayer and lunch was served by the
hostess.
