vice clubs in Lucknow become involved in
the project.
I'd like to see a good response from
Lucknow. I'd especially like to see the
church groups and the service ' clubs
become involved: We'd be more than hap-
py to gather the tools and make sure
they're sent to Toronto," he said.
Mr. Dawson said the Co-op will be collec-
ting tools up until July 31. If people don't
have any used tools at home, they can
make a cash donation which will help
defray the cost of shipping the tools to
Africa.
"Lucknow has always been supportive
of things of this nature. I think they will
really be responsive to this," he said.

Ashfield taxes to increase
Taxes in Ashfield Township will increase
by five per cent as council adopted the
budget and set the mill rates at their
meeting on May 20.
The largest increase in taxes will be felt
by elementary and separate school sup-
porters as their taxes will go up an
average of eight per cent while the county
rate is up six per cent. The township rate is
up approximately 5.5 per cent over last
year with a mill rate of 55.57 up from 52.55
for residential and farm property and 65.38
up from 61.82 for commercial property.
Sixty per cent of the taxes are due on
June 16 and the final payment is due on
November 15.
In other business, building permits were
approved for Colin and Earl Howes,
house; Lorne Hackett, barn; John
Parachos and Ken Selling, cottages and
Paul Snyder and Eric Johnston, repairs to
cottages.
A delegation from Concession 10 east at-
tended the meeting regarding the new con-
struction being done in this area. A delega-
tion from Port Albert with regards to a
roadside ditch and the new construction on
Wellington Street.
Mrs. Marion Zinn also attended the
council meeting to inform them of last
year's activities of the Wingham and
District Hospital Board.
A tile -drain rating bylaw for 1986 for
$9,000 was passed by council.
Road accounts of $87,375.84 and general
accounts of $18,889.49 were approved for
payment.
Council will meet next on Wednesday,
June 4 at 7:30 p.m.
County wants 1990 plowing match
The Bruce County Plowman's Associa-
tion will be making its pitch to host the
1990 International Plowing Match at the
f987 convention of the Ontario Plowman's

operation of the medical staff to do this.
The majority of board memebers sup-
ported the suggestion and agreed to the
one-month trial.
In order to accommodate this move, a
tabling motion was put forth to defer both
the original motion and Dr. Hanlon's
amendment to the board's June meeting.
That motion was carried by a 1g to 4
count:
Association. The association wants the
county's support.
As chairman of the local organizing
committee, Jack Cumming asked for
$100,000 to draw on from Bruce County
ccuncil at its May 20 meeting.
"We're not sure how much it will be.
Hopefully, as little as possible," said
Cumming.,
Council agreed to endorse the associa-
tion's efforts and a decision on the amount
will be made when there are more details
available about exact costs involved in
hosting the match.
The last time the. plowing match was
held in Bruce County was in 1976 on the
farm of Earl Johnston of RR 4, Walkerton.
Cumming told council that Johnston has
