Kincardine people pay visit to urt family
Mrs. Nellie McKinnon of Kincardine and
Mrs. Bill Burt visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Elmer Vance on Monday afternoon.
Mrs. Edbert Bushell returned •home.
from Kincardine Hospital. Gladyou- are
home, Dunedin.
Mr. and- Mrs. Tom McDonald spent
Thursday in Orangeville with Mr. and Mrs.
Gordon McDonald.
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Theriault and girls on the death of
Linda's father. The funeral was held in
Mount Forest. Mary Lynne and Christena
remained in Mount Forest for a few days.
The Theriault family reside in the former
S.S. No.. 2 school. Linda's father and
mother celebrated their Golden Wedding
in 1985. -

The Holyrood Women's Institute met on
• Thursday -evening .at ,the home of Mrs.
Charles Murray with a good attendance.
Mrs. Harold Smith, presided and the
Meeting opened with the ode and the Mary
Stewart Collect. The roll call was "A wise

Mrs. Douglas McEwan read the minutes
of the April meeting and gave the financial
statement. Mrs. Harold Smith and Mrs.
Douglas McEwan are the delegates to the
District meeting at Teeswater on May 8.
The program planning committee will meet
on May 21. A wedding reception luncheon
was planned.
Mrs. Frank Maulden had a new postage
stamp which was sent to her by her
Institute guest from England, Miss Doro-
thy Peach, with the picture of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth. Mrs. Douglas McEwan
spoke on 4-H work.
Mrs. Charles Murray was in charge of
the program and gave the motto "Every
one can be a success if we put our minds to
it". The topic was "Mothers and Grand-
mothers". Mrs. Murray conducted several
contests and flowers and prizes went to
Mrs. Tom Hodgins, Mrs. Lloyd Johnston,
Mrs. Leo Murray, Mrs. Harold Smith,
• Mrs. Charles, Murray, Mrs. Allan Miller,
, Mrs. Ellwood Elliott, Miss Edna Boyle,
Mrs. Alex Percy and Mrs. John Scott.
Readings were given by ,Mrs. Frank
Maulden, Mrs. Alex Percy, Miss May
Boyle, Mrs. John Scott, Mrs. Charles
Murray and Mrs. Tom Hodgins.
Betty Anne Murray favored with a piano
number. Mrs. Harold Smith - gave the
courtesies. 0 Canada closed the meeting.
Lunch was served by the hostess and her
daughters Joanne and Betty Anne Murray.
Mrs. Fred Page ot here accompanied
Miss Ruth Thompson of Lucknow to the
church musical worship at St. Thomas
Church, Walkerton on Saturday.
Congratulations to Lucas Thacker, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Eric Thacker. who tied for
first place in boys solo class for Grade 1 at
Walkerton. Congratulations also to Karah
Wall. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Wall,
who finished in first place for her solo in
Grade 2 at the festival.
The community is looking forward to
hearing Miss Maria Dalton talk on Haiti on
Thursday evening. -She will also She* her
- pictures, as she saw it all first hand. -Often
when we view Haiti on TV we wonder
about such poverty.
Congratulations to Michael Stanley, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Bevan Stanley of the
village who received a third place award for
his study of "stars in the winter sky" at the
Bruce County Science Fair held in Wiarton.
Mrs. Kay Hodgkinson Goderich called
on friends here on Monday. he had been a
hospital patient in Goderich for the past six
weeks.

Junior Agriculturalistprogram coming
The- Junior Agriculturalist Program is
•designed to give urban students between,
the ages of 16-18 a chance to gain some
valuable agricultural experience. The aim
of the program is to bridge the urban -rural
gap. Students are interviewedand placed
on .a suitable farm forma nine week period
extending from mid-June to mid-August.
The student receives $20 per day as
training allowance with the farmer contri-
buting $10 and the government the re-
mainder. The farmer also provides room
and board.
Co-ordinators for the Agricrew and Jun-
ior Agriculturalist Programs will be start-
ing in the Huron Office on May 5th. North
Huron will be covered by BrockWhitehead
and South Huron by David Wright.
