environment shown in work
The Blyth Festival Gallery is pleased
to announce that the work �f Tom
Benner will he shown in the gallery of
Blyth /k4eniorial Hall from May 1,
through to June I. The exhibition, will
inctude a variety of Mr. Benner's work
including Owls in My Sleep, Great Awk,
and White Pine. In addition to this
exhibition, Benner will be present on
May .31and June .1 during the Blyth
Festival's Annual Used Book Sale, to
give •a special slide show followed by a
discussion of his work.
Benner is a London, Ontario, artist
100 has won national recognition with a
number of his works, including his
Third World Parity Kit, a collection of
paintings and sculptures done in the
mid4970s. He has exhibited across the
country and his works are included in
the Canada Council Art Bank and the
Art Gallery of Ontario collection.
Most recently, he has been working
on pieces depicting different animals,
birds and nature symbols used by older
civilizations, mainly those of North
America. These pieces portray the harm
that modern man in inflicting on species •
such as the fin whale, polar bear, great
auk, sea eagle, and puma. His work
conveys a sense of loss of these animals,
and man's lack of understanding of his
environment in general. '
The exhibition is sponsored by the
Art .Gallery of Ontario •through the
Artist and Their Work' Program.
The Blyth Festival Gallery willbe
open Monday through Friday, from 9
a.m. - 5 p.m. For further information,

Delegates travel to Welland Synod
Mrs. Frank Maulden and Mrs. Glen
Haldenby were delegates to the Presby-
terian Synodical at Welland. They stayed
with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Phillip.
Miss, Connie Stanley accompanied her
grandparents Mr. and Mrs Ezra Stanley to
Walkerton. where they were dinner guests
with >Ir. and Mrs. R. J. Kaake. Ez and
Lula called on .other friends while in the
county town and Connie visited grandma
Doerr.
Missgs,Willnifred Percy; and May Boyle
went to Walkerton on Friday to visit at
Brucelea Haven with Mrs. Grace Graham
and ,Mrs. Dorothy ThompsOn.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burt visited with
members of their family in Toronto during
the week.
Mrs. Edbert Bushell was a patient in the
Kincardine and District Hospital for a few
days. We extend get well wishes,
Sympathy is extended to the family and
relatives of the late Max Bushell who
passed away on Friday at the Hanover
Hospital. The funeral was held on Monday
afternoon at the MacKenzie and McCreath
Funeral Home, Lucknow, with burial in
Greenhill Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. Midford VVall visited on
Sunday with Edna and May Boyle.
Dr. and Mrs. titian Mohamed and boys
of Toronto spent the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Page and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
Page.
Mr. and Mrs, Tom McDonald visited at
Riversdale and saw their new great

On Wednesday Mr. Joseph Guest of
Brucelea Haven, Walkerton and his
daughter Essie, Mrs. Fred Bloomfield of
Paisley, spent the day with Mr. and Mrs.
Tom McDonald.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith, Cheryl and
Heather of Holyrood bad a nice dinner
party at their home honouring Mr, and
Mrs. Cliff Robb on the occasion of their
45th wedding anniversary, Other dinner
guets,were Mr, and rvirs. Gien (Lois Robb).
Stinson, Gary and Susan of Hamilton; Mr.
and Mrs. John Dunlop, Vernon Dunlop and
Joan MacIntyre, all of Kincardine; and Mr.
and Mrs. Jerome Moore arid Lisa of
Glammis. The community also extends
congratulations to Cliff and Marjorie at this
special time.
