Wawanosh come& West Wawanosh Township Council met for its regular April session in the office of the municipal works garage on April 1, at 9:30 a.m. All members were in .attendance with Reeve Aitchison presiding. None of the members declared a conflict at this time. The minutes of the regular March meeting and a special meeting on March 10 were adopted as printed on motion of Councillors Hamilton -Seeger and. Cran- ston. Members of the Lucknow Arena Board • attended the meeting to request West Wawanosh Township Council to consider increasing its percentage share of the arena operationfrom 19 per cent to 25 per cent, since Kinloss and Ashfield Councils have now agreed to a 25 per cent share of the cost. Discussion ensured as to ways in which the method of financing the various recreational activities centered in Lucknow could be improved. West Wawanosh Council made no commitment at this time. The Building Inspector presented two applications for building permits for Council's consideration. Motion by Coun- cillors Cranston and Brindley,,That West_ Wawanosh Township Council hereby auth- orizes the building inspector to issue building permits to 1) G. Morrison (Mobile home); and 2) J. Thompson(storage shed). At this point in the meeting (10:40 a.m.) an increasing amount of smeke was observed near the mobile bottle owned and inhabited by Alex Tilbrook, and situated immediately to the south of the Township Hall. Examination by the road superin- tendent and some council members revealed the mobile in flames, and there- upon the fire department was summoned. A very strong southerly wind ultimately caused sparks to ignite the hall. Then due to a lengthy delay in getting water in the hoses, and subsequently no pressure, the hall was very quickly burned to the ground. The old steel safe housed in the hall was recovered from the fire, but not before severe damage to its contents - assessment and.cMector's rolls dating back to 1860, and possibly earlier. The council meeting resumed at 12 noon, Three tenders for crushing and hauling 1986 road gravel were opened and considered. Motion by Councillors .13tind- ley and Cranston, That .the Township of West Wawanosh hereby accepts the tender of Bannerman Contracting Ltd., Kincar- dine, to crush anCapply approximately 20,000 cubic yards of 5/8" gravel at S1.70 per cubic yard, and to stockpile approx- imately 500 cubic yards at $1.15 per cubic yard. Motion by Councillors Hamilton -Seeger and Raynard, That the Township of West Wawanosh hereby accepts the quotation of Pollardnighway Products Ltd., fiairow, to supply liquid calcium chloride for the 1986 summer season at $199..66 per flake ton equivalent. - • Road accounts , in the amount of $10,69649 were authorized for payment on motion of Councilors Raynard and Briral. by. , Motion by Councillors Hamilton -Seeger and Cranston, That West Wawanosh Township Council hereby requests that Colborne Township Council attend a meeting at the *est Wawanosh Works Garage on Thursday, April 10, 1986 at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the ,Boundary Road Agree- ment. Council adjourned this meeting at 3:00 p.m. to reconvene at 7:30 p.m. on April 15. Correction West. Wawanosh Clerk treasurer Joan Armstrong noted some errors in the front page story Township man pulled from blue,,•,in the April 16 issue of The Sentinel. The trailer "was pretty well down" when the Lucknow and District Fire Department arrived at the scene of the fire - the trailer's - ,resident, Alex Tilbrook bad already been rescued. She also explained that while the old township hall was a muncipal building, the school standing by it had previously been sold to Tilbrook. The old assessment and collector's rolls partially burned in the fire have been sent tothe Huron County Museum for restoration for microfilnfing, she added. About 20 per cent of the historic papers were lost. s approves three permits. Council for the Township of Kinloss met for the regular Monthly meeting on April 7 with Reeve Barry Johnston and all council members present. Building p.rtnit applications were accep- ted for Murray Kraemer and James 0. Hanna, partlets 19 and 20 Range 2, South Durham Road 'for residences and for Gerald Murray, lot 13, concession 10, for an addition .to an existing barn. The tender of, Joe Kerr Limited was accepted to haul, crush and spread approximately34,000 cubic yards of "A" gravel at $1.73 per cubic yard and to supply, haul and spread crushed -gravel on ratepayers private roads at $2.50 per cubic yard. ° The road superintendent was instructed to call for quotationsfor corrugated metal for 19884etlillifernents. A motion was passed authorizing the road superintendent tepurchase 160 litres of weed spray and one tonne . of bagged calcium ,chloride from the Bruce County roads department. General accounts for $22,599.60 and road accounts for $11,087.55 were approv- ed. ' • • At a special meeting on March 17 council accepted the quotation --of Pollard Bros.
