President Mrs. John Currie presided for the meeting, After the opening exercises Mrs. Currie gave a reading Our Legacy. Rollcall was payment of membership fees. The minutes of last year's annual meeting were read by secretary Agnes Farrier and the financial statement give for 1985-86. Reports from standing committees were: Agriculture and Canadian Industries Mrs. James Wilson; Education and Cultural Activities, Miss Merle Wilson; Citizenship and World Affairs, Mrs. William Rintoul; Resolutions, Mrs. Rena Fisher; Family and Consumer Affairs, Mrs. Tom Day; Iiublic Relations, Mrs. Don Ross; Curator, Mrs. John Currie; and Sunshine and Cheer, Mrs. Fred Tiffin. Thirty two cards had been sent and 14 sunshine boxes given. Mrs. Tom Day read the new slate of officers and Mrs. Rena Fisher conducted the installation. Officers for 1986-87 Whitechurch WI are:past president, Mrs. Agnes Farrier; president, Mrs. John Currie; 1st vice president, Mrs. Rena Fisher; secretary - treasurer, Mrs. Agnes Farrier; public relations, Mrs. Don Ross; district director, Miss Merle Wilson; branch directors, Mrs. Elgin Johnston, Mrs. Fred Tiffin, Mrs. Dave Gibb; and pianists, Mrs. Ron Ross, Mrs. Jean Tiffin. Those on committees are: program, Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs. Lorne Durnin, Mrs. . William Purdon, Mrs. Agnes Farrier; auditors, Mrs. Dave Gibb, Mrs. Norma Rintoul; sunshine and cheer, Mrs. Fred Tiffin. People Report Victor Emerson quietly celebrated his 93 birthday at his home on Sunday. Mr, and Mrs. Alan Falconer have sold their home here and will be moving in the future to Goderich where Alanis employed at the museum: Mrs. Steve Irwin, Cody and Chance are residing with her parents until Steve, who went to British Columbia, secures steady employment, • Several from here attended the trous- seau tea held on Saturday for Jo -Marie McCormick at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Don. Arnold grew to young manhood on the home _ farm north of White- church and its remembered by many here. Angus Falconer .is back to work at the Nuclear Point. Whitechurch Ladies of the UCW attend- ing the Thankoffering meeting at Lucknow Sunday evening were Mrs. Agnes Farrier, Mrs. Russel Chapman and Mrs. Dave Gibb. Quite a number from the area attended the Maple Syrup Festival held at Belmore on the weekend. Mrs. Alice Moore spent most of last week at Victoria Hospital where she received treatment on her arm. On Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bruinsna of Goderich visited Mr. and Mrs. John de Boer. Mr. and Mrs. S. Logtenberg of Dungan- non visited on Friday with her brother Mr. and Mrs. John de Boer. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson, Ryan, Erin and Craig of Egmondville and Mr. and Mrs. John de Boer attended a birthday party for Alicia de Boer. Also there were her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jim de Boer, Michael and Matthew at her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John de Boer. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Robertson of Wingham were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott and family. Weekend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan were Mr. and Mrs. Ray- mond DesRoches, London, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jones, Woodstock. Visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan were Mr. and Mrs. Coulson of Caledon and Jim Clark of Lucknow. Recent visitors one day last week with Mr. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Laidlaw, Lucknow, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ducharme of G.oderich. Mr. and Mrs. Fred de Boer of Langside recently moved to the MacKay house on the top of the hill where they will reside while Fred assists Don McIntyre with the farm work.
