Clarence Ritchie extended a welcome , to.
all. The CGIT also attended,
Learn to live together was the theme of
the devotional period. Mrs. Gordon Cayley
read Scriptures` from Matthew -7: 1- 12 and
Psalm 75.• The,' meditation was given by
Mrs. Ken Cameron and Mrs. C. Ritchie led'
in prayer. In lreeping with. the devotional
theme Mrs.` Glen .Walden gave a'reading
With us .•in prejudice.. Mrs. William
Graham favoured with a lovery piano .in-
strumental.
The offering was receivedby:. Mrs.
Robert CaribP" be11' and'Mrs. Leonard Ritchie
and dedicated by Mrs. George ,McBride.
Mrs. McBride, introduced. the. guest
speaker 'Chtef Vernon Roote and his wife of
the Saugeen Indian Reserve. They ` were
accompanied by two teenage ,girls Who also -
participated in the meeting.
Chief Roote commented on the history of
thereserve which consists of 10,000 acres.,.:'
There are 650 Indians living on this reserve
and -300 off,
He' and`eight'councillors run the reserve
in much the sante way that a reeve and his
council would run any small ` town.
He made special ..mention of their farm
operation, a project of recent years. An
additional 750 acres of land ` have been
purchased through various grants available
and at ppresent they have over 600 tattle of
good 'quality and deman4,.
A lot of lake front land . is leased to
cottagers bringing in a ;good revenue.

For;:the most part the meeting was in
dialogue term .and many questions were.
asked from the . floor involving education,
health `filities, housing, churches, Prob-
lems and achievements. All churches are
studying Canadian Indians this year so it
was most enlightening to have this group
give very direct answers. All would leave

the meeting feeling Chief Roote is a good
.leader and: dedicated tohis people. Mrs.
Stuart Reavie thanked. the ° speaker and
other participants.

Committee delivers 90 meals
Qn April 9 Lucknow Meals on Wheels
committee met at Pinecrest Manor with
five members present. During March,
ninety meals were delivered by volunteers.
There are about thirty-five volunteer
drivers.
A eneral discussion followed about
various ways of reaching those who would

was read. It advised of the fourth Biennial
Provincial Conference in Niagara Falls,
Ontario on May -5 and 6. It also contained
