Lucknow Branch` 309 of the Royal.
Canadian Legion held its public speaking
contest on February 21. Angela Boyd of ,
Lucknow Central Public School, won the
Grades 4 to 6 category with a speech on
Being Short. Second was Ruth Ann Baker
of Brookside Public School speaking on Not
Me. Marita MacDougall of Lucknow
Central placed third in her topic Puppies.
In the Grades 7 and 8 competition, Sarah
Brophy of St. Joseph's Separate School,
Kingsbridge placed first with her discourse
called Indian Mission. Allan Kikkert •of
Lucknow . and District Christian School
carne in second with How 1 Hate Speeches.

Grade 3, Room 10 had a special " book
cake last week as a treat in honour of all the
books read by the class. The top three
readers were Charity Newhook, Patricia
Robinson and Shane Webster. Mrs.
Heslinga fromboard office also visited
Room 10 and did an alphabet book with the
class. using picture words and shapes. It
was a real challenge to make a word 'like
"elephant" look like an elephant shape.
• The school had a very successful book
sale . in the library. Mrs. Robinson gave a
donation of. Money,. so along with . the
money from the sale, tithe school is now able
to'.buy a ,Huron County Atlas.

Novice drop two games
Lucknow Novice travelled to Mildmay on
March 3 for their first game of the play off
series.
Mildmay 5 - Lucknow` 1
Both teams had many chances to score in
the end-to-end action of the first period.
Mildmay scored four goals to end the
second period.
Lucknow finally got on the scoreboard at
the four minute mark of the third period.

The Huron County board of education,
hospitals and the board of health are going
after better speech pathology services for
Huron County residents.
A brief on speech pathology _services is to
be sent to provincial Health Minister Mur-
ray Elston. The brief is awaiting , the
signatures of hospital chairmen and the
board of health.
"The matter of speech pathology services
in Huron County has been a cause for con-
cern over .a' period covering several_ years,"
states the;'b!rief4 t ,E'
The document reports that service has
been inconsistent and there have been pro-
blems getting and keeping staff. There has
once more to win by a 5 = 1 score.
On Saturday, March 7 Lucknow Novice
hosted Mildmay for the second game of the
series.
Mildmay 7 - Luck now 1'
Lucknow got on the score board at 3:28 '
mark of the first period. Mildmay soon
responded to end the first period 1 - 1.
Mildmay just kept skating and stickhand-
ling and scored twice in the second, four
times in the third to end this game 7 - 1.
Lucknow's only goal was scored by Sean
Wolfe assisted by Eric Andrew.

finding medical therapy support for 35
urgent and 25 routine cases.
