Church in Society
The March meeting of the U.C.W. was
held at the home of Mrs. Muriel Thompson
on Wednesday, March 5. -
Mrs. Gertrude, Durnin gave the call to
worship. Mrs. Evelyn Gibb read the
scripture from Matthew 18: 15 - 20. Mrs.
Durnin gave the topic, The Church in
Society. She fold about the ckurches
concern for liquor, drugs, abuse of
battered women and pornography.
Mrs. Durnin also said christian churches
in Russia are still able to celebrate Easter
in some parts. In 1988 Russian churches
will celebrate 100 years of christianity. In
1917 there were 80,000 active 'Aurae.%
today there are 7,000.
Mrs. Elizabeth Tiffin read an article on
topic of
Keeping the Lords 'Prayerin sthool.
Rev. George Ball showed film of their
trip to the Holy -Land. •
All sang two hymns and Mrs. Durnin
gave a piano' solo,
Mrs. Gertrude Durnin led in .prayer.
Mrs. Mary Chapman,. secretarY, read.,
the minutes, The Offering. and Least Coin •
were received and dedicated • by Rev. G.
Ball. The roll call was answered- by 10 .
telling of their disapproval of a commer-
cial.
All signed a getwell card: for Mrs. Alice
Moore. Letters wereread from Fred Victor
Mission .and Reioiirce Centre for dona-
tions

Mildred McClenaghan was a ThursdaY'
visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson. -
For the high schoolers the eiams Would
have been over but the stortn cancelled the
buses so one more day of exams is
scheduled- after the winter break. Most
students showed a sigh of relief..We wish
them all success.
Guests on Sunday' with Mr. and Mrs. E.
W. Beecroft were Ronald, Shannon, and
Heather Beecroft, Sharon and , Stacey

On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. John deBoer,
Donald, Eddie and Mr. and Mrs. Jim
deBoer, Matthew, Michael and Alicia all
attended an outside party at their
nephew's home at Goderich. They• had a
great time, tobogganing, skiing, snow
shoeing, and other winter games.
On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. John deBoer
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Nicholson and
family in Egmondville. Little Erin Nichol-,
son-cam4home with grandpa and grandma -
for holidays.
• Mrs. Daw's niece Patricia .Clare of
Toronto spent the weekend with her.
Mrs. Wesley Tiffin accompanied Mr.
and Mrs. Angus Falconer to Mr. and Mrs.
Hector Purdon's in Strathroy on Wednes-
day.

visited with Mt. and Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw.
Mrs. Kennedy visited with her daughter
Joyce last week at the home of Mr. and
Mrg.. Carl McClenaghan. On Thursday
MrS:- Kennedy, Joyce and Mr, and Mrs.
Cart McClenaghan attended the horse
show. in. Toronto.
