The bridal and bridesmaids bouquets
are important features to consider in •
achieving the picture -perfect wedding
day.
Half of the brides choose real flowers,
while the other half choose to go with ar-
tifial bouquets, says Ingrid Gerlofsrna,
owner of Kenny's Flowers in Walkerton.
There is no price difference between
real or artificial flower bouquets. The
reason is, says Ingrid, that the labor in-
volved with making a bouquet and the
price of flowers, whether real or ar-
tificial, balances out in the long run.
She.says it is wise to order bouquets a
month before the Wedding day, especially
if the flowers are real. Orchids and white
roses have to be ordered from a supplier.
Books on floral bouquet arrangements
are in the store for girls to get an idea of
how certain bouquets will look with their
'dresses.
However, as most of the books are
from the United States, and the tastes
there are different from Canada, Ingrid
says the .bouquets can be changed.accor-
dingly.
Orchids and stephanotis are still the
popular flowers, but girls also choose the
favorites, roses and daisies, she says.
"An awful lot of girls choose"plain
white or red roses, the classic bouquet,
as it is still the most effective."
The bridal bouquet should .bechosen
first :as the bridesmaids' bouquets should
not overpower, the bride's.
Bridesmaids' bouquets are most often
made wi'th.artificial flowers as theycan
be made into keepsakes, says Ingrid. .•
She advises girls to always go with the
'color of the season.
Spring and summer colors are various
shades of pink and blue, while shades of
yellow, orange and wheat are for fall and
winter.
"If colors don't match the gowns, the
effect is awful."
The shop will turn these bouquets into a
keepsake by either placing them into a
covered glass container or arranging
them onto a decorative fan.
Corsages for mothers can be obtained
from the shop on a day or two notice. '
These should be color cor-ordinated as
well, says Ingrid.
It is best if a piece of material,, the col-
or of the dresas, is brought into the shop
so flowers can, be arranged to compli-
ment the outfits.
In choosing" flower arrangements for
the church service and reception, the
amount of money a girlwishes to spend
usually dictates her choice, says Ingrid.
A candelabra, with a flower piece at-
tached, might not be allowed in the
church and, she says it is best to check
this out.
If a candelabra is permitted, one
money saver is to use the flower arrange-
ment from, the ,church service .for the •
head table centrepiece at the reception.
Small vases with dairies or carnations,
can also be made inexpensively for' tables
atthe t e rete tiara.Thiso o can p o .be a money
saver as: the vases.,can:.:be returned to the
shop, says Ingrid.
. "Girls want a lot of flowers: at their
wedding However, they usually go. with
the cheapest arrangement.";
