A traditional part of any wedding is a
professional photographer. That tradition
continues, but there's a new man on the
scene, the one who catches all the action,
reaction and suspense of a wedding on
video tape.
Mark 'IX/Innen off.Walkerton is one of the .
`,:pioneers" when It,Arf ref-. t 9 ArilP0 taping
for local couples wisningan added feature
to their photography coverage. He's a
photographer with a camera who's willing
to travel.
A native of Walkerton, Mullen started
his part-time video taping business 10 mon-
ths ago. His full-time 1011 is with the
Walkerton Day Care Centre, but eventual-
ly, he hopes to make a career in the video
business. - •
"As far as I know, my business is the on-
ly legitimate video taping service in the
area. And so far, videotaping.weddings is
my biggest business." -
He's also involved in taping on video
household belongings and valuables.
"I've got abont°20 bookings for this year
so far, but my goal is to have.40 per Year; ,
, something my assistant and I can handle. I
have an assistant foe double bookings.".
Mullen recently attended a bridal Show.
in Toronto where 10 wedding video ser-
vices showed what can be done, offered
tips and advice, And gave pricing .
guidelines. Compared,to,the city video ser-
vices, Mullen says hechargesmuch less in
Walkerton for the same service. Complete
wedding coverage, including the church
and reception is $250.
"It's a known fact that 30 per cent of the
couples getting married are getting their
weddings video tapes. I can capture the
sound, movement, laughterand solemn
splendor that a still photographer can't."
Though the professional "still"
photographer is still at the forefront when
it comes to wedding photography, Mullen
.says the two types of photography go hand-
in-hand. "It's still nice to have • •
'photographs, but it will be a matter of
tirne before couples start cutting down on
the expenses of a photographer and begin
using 'both types of services." ,
"The $250- I charge for the. complete
package is ridiculously cheap compared to
the city video tapers, but having lots of
satisfied customers is the key to getting.
established." •

In his promotioriarmaterial,`Mallen says
newlyweds and.their families are always
thrilled with this beautiful remembrance
of their special day.
"Make this the first mode of your new
family library and remember your special
day forever." , • "
As producer; director and cameraman,
Mullen gays it's always a thrill to see the
reaction Of newlymarried'couples when
they see themselves on. televsion. . As soon
