That tradition continues, but there's a new man on the scene, the one who catches all the action, reaction and suspense of a wedding on video tape. He's a photographer with a camera who's willing to travel. A native of Walkerton, Mullen started his part-time video taping business 10 mon- ths ago. His full-time 1011 is with the Walkerton Day Care Centre, but eventual- ly, he hopes to make a career in the video business. - • "As far as I know, my business is the on- ly legitimate video taping service in the area. And so far, videotaping.weddings is my biggest business." - He's also involved in taping on video household belongings and valuables. "I've got abont°20 bookings for this year so far, but my goal is to have.40 per Year; , , something my assistant and I can handle. I have an assistant foe double bookings.". Mullen recently attended a bridal Show. in Toronto where 10 wedding video ser- vices showed what can be done, offered tips and advice, And gave pricing . guidelines. Compared,to,the city video ser- vices, Mullen says hechargesmuch less in Walkerton for the same service. Complete wedding coverage, including the church and reception is $250. "It's a known fact that 30 per cent of the couples getting married are getting their weddings video tapes. I can capture the sound, movement, laughterand solemn splendor that a still photographer can't." Though the professional "still" photographer is still at the forefront when it comes to wedding photography, Mullen .says the two types of photography go hand- in-hand.
