Lucknow Midgets con
Lucknow 8, Paisley 3
The Lucknow Midgets completed their
playoff series against Paisley on Feb. 5
with a convincing 8 - 3 win in Paisley. The
game opened in a hurry for the Lucknow
squad with a short-handed goal and, by the
end of the first, they had a 3 - 0 lead.
Paisley came alive briefly in the second
with a couple of goals but the Lucknow
team stretched their lead to 5 - 2 by the end
of the second and 8 - 3 at the bell to take
the series in straight games.
On Ole scoreboard: Dan Gilchrist one
goal, two assists; Andy Grazier, one goal;
Scott Hackett, two goals; Murray
Houghton, two assists; Steve Huffman,
one goal; Chris Irwin, three assists; Brad
Priestap, one goal; Jeff Walden, two
assists.
At home on Monday night, the team
came out very flat against a fired -up
Teeswater team and were almost blown
away in the first period as the Teeswater

Kinloss agrees to 25% basis
on arena operating deficit
The regular meeting of Kinloss council
was held in the municipal office at Holy -
rood Feb. 5 with all council members
present except Councillor Dave Gibb.
Clerk Frank Hawthorne, was instructed
to write to Health Minister Murray Elston
to inform him that the township has no
objections to an increase from four to six
beds at the former Betty O'Donnell rest
home.
In reply to a letter received from the
village of Lucknow which asks for consider-
ation in putting the arena operating deficit
share on an even 25 per cent basis for each
municipality, council passed a motion
agreeing to pay a maximum of 25 per cent
of the operating deficit. Presently Lucknow
pays 35 per cent, Ashfield 25 per cent,
Kinloss 23 per cent and West Wawanosh
19 per cent.
General accounts for $33,056.90 and
road accounts for $22,250.59 were approv-
ed.
At a special meeting on Jan. 20 a motion
was passed to the effect that the township
of Kinloss has no objections to the request
of the village of Lucknow to lower the
regulatory standard for defining the flood
plain in the Nine Mile River Water Shed
from the regional flood: to the one hundred
year flood standard.
Council passed a motion objecting to the
application of Fe -Mor Holdings Ltd. of lots
8, 9 and 10, concession 12 to increase
tonnage limit for gravel removal, from
40,000 tonnes per year to 80,000 tonnes per
year.
The annual donation of $375 will be

iation for the mentally retarded.

cingly take P isley playoff series
team out -worked and out -shot the Lucknow
squad 18 - 3 in the period. Lucknow was
lucky to escape the period just two goals
down but could not recover from such a
slow start.
Just two goals were scored in the second
period both in the last minute. Lucknow got
on the board with an unassisted goal by
Murray Houghton but the Teeswater team
stormed back in just 22 seconds to
re-establish the two goal bulge.
In the third, Lucknow scored in just 29
seconds on a goal by Chris Irwin from
Hackett and Houghton and appeared to
show some signs of life but Teeswater
continued to play well defensively, clearing
the zone quickly and not allowing any
skating room.
The Lucknow team could not manage
any last minute heroics in this game and at
the bell Teeswater had a 3 - 2 victory and
the first two points in a six point series.
Next home game is Feb. 19.
