Atoms continue winning ways Lucknow 5, Wallace 2 The Lucknow Atom As continued their almost perfect season with two more wins last week, against Wallace and Howick. The score against Wallace was 5 - 2. After a scoreless first period Wallace opened the scoring at the 8:34 minute mark. Six minutes later Tom Chilton scored for Lucknow, assisted by Vince Sticklend. Lucknow's next goal was scored by Justin Murray with Chris Stevenson assist- ing making it a 2 - 1 game at the end of the second. Rob Crich scored the third goal with Justin Murray assisting and Murray scored the fourth with Chris Steventon assisting. Chris Stevenson scored the fifth goal for Lucknow assisted by Rob Crich. Lucknow 3, Howick 0 The game against Howick on Sunday proved to be very exciting. The first and second periods were scoreless, and rough with three penalties called on each team. The third period was even worse as the officials seemed determined to keep Lucknow in the penalty box for no reason. However they were not deterred as Chris Stevenson scored unassisted while two Lucknow players were in the box. Rob Crich scored two more goals for Lucknow assisted by Duane Porter on one and Clint Murray the other. It was a shut out for goalies Adam Skillen and Joel Sutton. Atom Bs still improving Mildmay 3, Lucknow 2 A much improved Atom 13 team met with Mildmay in Lucknow Saturday afternoon. Although the score went against them, the boys played the best they have yet. Mildmay started the scoring in the first period. Their first goal was scored four and a half minutes into the game and their second was scored on a deflection popped up off of five or six -sticks. The second period's only goal was scored by Lucknow's Dean Tiffin on a pass from Mark Bakker. Mark won the face off, passed. to Dean and the" puck was in the net three seconds after the face off. Midway in the third period Mildmay scored again, making the score 3 - 1. The boys tried hard to beat Mildmay's goalie and managed with three minutes left in the game. Mark Stoll scored assisted by Chris Humphrey and Nathan Daer. Final score 3 - 2. Lancers win another pair Lucknow 10, Ripley 4 The Lucknow Lancers closed out their regular season play over the weekend with a pair of victories against Ripley and K incardine. On Friday night Larry MacPherson paced the Lancer attack with four goals against the Ripley Roosters on route to a 10 - 4 victory. Single goals went to Eugene Johnston, Pat Murray, Grant Gilchrist, Steve MacPherson, Kevin Clark and Al Eadie. Mark Stanley replied with three for the Roosters and Paul Wilken added one. Ray Guay played well in net and was called upon more than once to stop the Roosters from point blank range. Lucknow 7, Kincardine 3 Good goaltending was the key to the victory Sunday night as the Lancers skated to a 7 - 3 victory over the Kincardine Kings. Ray Guay was hot in the nets again and repeatedly robbed the Kings of goals. Brad Humphrey led the scoring with two goals and singles went toJim Murray, Greg Hamilton, Steve Simpson, Larry MacPher- son and Pat Murray. Don Elliott provided the half-time show in a third round heavyweight bout at the close of the first period. The Lancers got a bye in the first round of playoff action and will not play next weekend. Bantams take overtime win The Lucknow Bantams travelled to Paisley for the second game in their playoff series Wednesday evening, bringing home a 7 - 3 victory after playing one 10 minute period of overtime. The local boys got off to a very slow start and were down two goals at the end of the first. Thirteen seconds into the second period Lucknow finally managed to get on the scoreboard on a goal by Steve Mensinga from Jeff Gammie. With four minutes left in the second period, Kevin DeJong tied up the score on a pass from Jim Sinnett and Dave MacDougall. Lucknow finally appeared to get their game together in the third period, with Scott Gibson changing the score assisted by Jim Sinnett and Dave MacDougall. With just 1:57 left, Paisley managed to tie the game up. At this point it appeared to be either team's game. Lucknow finally got into their own style .'of game in the ten minute overtime and with Paisley appearing to tire, the locals pumped in four goals by Kirk Livingston, two, Chopper Murray and Jeff Gammie to give them the victory. Assists went to Sam Murray two, Kevin DeJong two, Mark MacConnell and Wayne Nivens. Craig Irwin in nets played a good steady game, after having just recovered from the flu bug, stopping a lot of shots.
