Bantams defeat Paisley 5-2
The. Lucknow Bantams defeated Paisley
5 - 2 in the first game of their Ontario
Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) playoff
series here Jan. 31.
Kirk Livingston led off the scoring early
in the second period on a pass from Brad
Stanley.
' Two minutes later Kevin de Jong slid
one in with the assist going to Scott Gib-
son.
Paisley ended the scoring in period two
and opened period three with another one
to tie the score.
Lucknow went ahead with a shot from
'Livingston assisted by Jim Sinnett and
Harvey Kikkert. Kevin de Jong picked up
two more goals to earn himself a hat trick
for the night. Assists went to Jeff Gammie
(2), Matt Rhody and Gibson.
Next game is in Paisley Wednesday and
if a third game is necessary, the locals go
back to Paisly on Saturday.
Peewee Bs drop two more games
Ripley 8 Lucknow 3
Lucknow Peewee Bs travelled to Ripley
for a rematch with the local boys.
The game was off to a good start with
Ripley putting up the first score with four
minutes into the game. The Lucknow boys
put up a good opposition for Ripley. The
score was 4 - 3 for Ripley at end of second
period.
Marksmen for Lucknow up to end of
second .were Stan Kikkert, assisted by
Marvin Kikkert and Steven Rintoul;
Richard Brindley, assisted by Paul Sande,
and Ray Kikkert, assisted by Richard
Brindley, and Paul Sande.
Ripley scorers were Sam Snobelen, Troy
Thornicroft for two and Paul McDonald.
Lucknow's defence worked hard but
faltered in the third period and Ripley
netted four more goals. Lucknow's Richard
Brindley scored a goal assisted by Stanley
Kikkert.
Allan Kikkert was certainly kept busy in
net and did a good job. Lucknow dressed '10
players, a few less than usual but all
benefited from more ice time and exper-
ience.
Only one.. penalty was called but some
spectators would have liked to see a few
more called, The Peewees will play hockey
and not be so concerned about bumping,
and shovng.
Tee: water 5 Lueknow 2
Teeswater Peewee Bs came -out flying
and scored the`'` first: three :goals.
Lucknow was struggling to clear the
puck out of their own end in the, first
period.
Lucknow'' Batch Foran scored from
Stanley Kikkert near the end of the second.
period. Teeswater's Jason Mair answered
right back with only seconds left to play. At
the end of the second period score was
Teeswater 4, Lucknow 1.
Coach Barry Johnston gave a pep talk
and the boys played a better third period
both offensively and defensively. Luck-
now's .Richard"Brindley put the puck into
Teewater net from Marshall LeBreton and
Butch Foran.
Teeswater's Jason Mair managed anoth-
er point for his team assisted by Brent
Kavanaugh. Final wore Teeswater 5,
Lucknow 2.
Referee Randy Guay kept a close check.
on both teams, calling several high sticking
and unnecessary roughness penalties.
LucknOw dressed only two full lines so
everyone got a good work out and a chance
to play hockey.
Allan Kikkert, once again, was a very
busy net minder.
Novices top Wingham
Lucknow Novice travelled to Wingham
the afternoon of Feb. 2.
The Wingham boys opened the scoring
in the first period with Peter Gusso scoring.
unassisted. Lucknow's Eric Andrew scored
later that period assisted by Senn Wolfe
and Ryan Jarvis.
