Bailey said that some of the program is done with Lloyd- in street clothes "so they can see he's an adult" as well as a police officer. "Some can't get past the uniform and it can be a stumbling block," said Lloyd. As part of the preparations for teaching the course, the two attended a two day seminar for officers and teachers head in Formosa last May. Another part of the project, which is also being tried in Kincardine and Wiarton, is a meeting with parents. That has already been held. Included in the course are field trips. Plans are underway to go to the' OPP station and jail in Walkerton, and perhaps to ,a hospital. "If by chance the kids get involved in this type of situation, they'll feel a little more at ease. They (the tours) are some- thing parents have a problem doing," said Bailey. Speakers are another integral part of the program. For example, Bailey wants to bring in a lawyer, a minister and the head of guidance for Bruce County. Films and group discussions are other educational tools for Bailey and Lloyd and the two hope to have a skit or play we bring lou ••• bes ROYALE WHITE, YELLOW, ALMOND 4'S Bathroom Tissue SAVE .90 SALADA ORANGE PEKOE PAPER 72'S Tea Bags SAVE .1.10 2.39 FLEISCHMANN SOFT TWIN PACK 4 VARIETIES 2x8 OZ; SAVE. .40 in e 11fargarine BEEFWAY PLAIN/GARLIC Sausage311 *6. Costs for field trips will be kept down with Kinsmen assistance and Bailey hopesto present students completing VIP with a T-shirt or cap at graduation. The students have shown their accept- ance. "They seem to be keen," said the teacher. ''They're keen because they knew it was coming and they were asking their teachers and parents about the VIP program.
