The local boys were down two goals at the 2:35 mark but two quick goals by Sam Murray and Matt Rhody tied the score at the end of the first period. Lucknow dominated in the second period both in scoring, with three goals, and in penalties, with ten minutes. Period three saw Belmore retaliate with three goals, however it wasn't enough as Lucknow pumped in another four. Wayne Nivens picked up an unassisted hat trick in the third which coach Harvey Livingston attributes to the use of his "special oldtimers stick" that Nivens used in the third. Final score 9 - 5 for Lucknow. Manager Dune Campbell, who was enjoying a social time at the Robbie Burns' Night, paid a visit to the player's bench in - his kilt, which must have been just a bit chilly. That's dedication! Points for the evening were goals: Nivens three and Rhody, S. Murray, Jimmy Sinnett, Kevin de Jong, Brad Murray and Jeff Gammie one each; assists to Nivens two; Harvey Kikkert one; de Jong two; Dave Schuler two. On Saturday, the Bantams travelled to Paisley for a tournament. The first game was against Wiarton with a 6 - 1 win for Lucknow. Points were Harvey Kikkert three goals, Wayne Nivens, two goals, 1 assist; Sam Murray, one goal, two assists; Steve Mensinga, one assist; Kevin de Jong, two assists; Jeff Gammie, two assists; Mark MacConell, one assist. They then came up against Wingham A team and were blown out of the arena 11 - 0 Playoffs starts with Paisley here Friday. Come out and support your local team. winless streak broken in shootout The Lucknow Lancers ended a two game winless streak over the weekend in another shootout against Drayton. Final score was Lucknow 11, Drayton 7. The lead changed- hands hangedhands several times during the game and.. both teams knew where the penalty box was by the end of the game. Jim Murray opened the scoring with a long shot that somehow got past the Drayton goalie. Steve Alton and Brad Humphrey scored one each and then Larry MacPherson took a "Jim Murray shot" from the blueline which somehow got past the Drayton goalie to even the score at 4 - 4. In the second period Jim Keller picked up a loose puck around the Drayton net and took a shot, and picked up a loose puck and snot, and picked up a loose puck and shot and finally put the puck in the net. With the Lancers behind 6 - 5 Steve Simpson picked up a loose puck around the Drayton net and took one shot for one goal to end the period 6 - 6. Lucknow scored five more in the third with goals by Don Elliott, Jim Murray with his second,P Pat Murray, Grant Gilchrist and Steve MacPherson. AIlan , Dyck handled the chores in the Lucknow net. Last weekend the Lancers suffered two losses, one at the hands of Ripley and one against Mildmay where a three goal per- formance by Eugene Johnston wasn't enough to save the Lancers.
