He was the husband of the late Grace McGregor who resided on the second concession east of Whitechurch on the farm of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mac Ross. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McGregor. Some of the old timers remember them and to them sympathy is extended. Mr. and Mrs. Dawson Craig of RR 3 • Auburn visited Thursday evening with Mr. • and Mrs. Victor Emerson. Quite a number of the folks of the village have had the flu. Most have recovered by now. It is a Pleasure to report that Dave Gibb is slowly recovering in Wingham Hospital: In a letter from Blanche Alexander of Virden, Manitoba last week, Mrs. V. Emerson received a gift of a silver dollar to pass on to. Amy Falconer for an essay for which she received first prize. Miss Alex- ander was so taken that she sent the gift. Miss Alexander is no relation of Amy. Attending the Maitland Presbyterial at Wingham St. Andrews Church from Whitechurch were Mrs. Norma Rintoul, Mrs. Don Ross and Mrs. Walter Elliott. Mr. and Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon of Lucknow were Sunday afternoon visitors with Mr. and Mrs, Victor Emerson. Church services for the month of February will be held in the United Church beginning Feb. 2. Let's remember Groundhog Day and be hoping he doesn't see his shadow so that the winter will soon be over. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore were at London Victoria Hospital on Friday where Mrs. Moore had treatment on her arm. Visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Beecroft were R,onald, Kevin, Shannon and Heather Beecroft and Stacey Worth of Wingham. Miss Karen Beecroft of Kitch- ener .spent the viteekeiid, With her plients Mr. and Mrs. E. W. tee -croft. Bill .Forster was able' Ito return home from Wingham Hospital on SatUrday. On the weekendMr. and Mrs. Relison Falconer of Sarnia and . his mother, Mrs. Cassie Mowbray, were at the home in the village. Mrs. Mowbray is now with Mr. and Mrs. Hector Purdon of Strathroy and Mr. and Mrs. Falconer are going to Florida. Visitors on the weekend with Mrs. Norma Rintoul were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell and Heather of Richmond Hill. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell and Heather of Richmond Hill and Mrs. Norma Rintoul , were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Neil Rintoul, Steve, Scott and Stuart of, West Wawa - nosh. Chalmers annual meeting The annual meeting of Chalmers Presby- terian Church was held Jan. 25 in the Sunday School room with Rev. Allison Ramsay Interim Moderator. Sixty-eight people attended. The Sqnday School superintendent was • Mrs. Don Ross. Secretary -treasurer is Mrs. Neil Rintoul and teachers are Karen Elliott, Mrs. Rintoul and Mrs. Ball. They held 33 meetings and had a very successful year. The WMS members and Homehelpers had a successful year and were able to reach their allocation. They have seven active members and 12 home helpers. The auditors, Kathleen Gibson and Barbara Rintoul,. examined the treasurer's books and found ail correct. They too had a very successful year. • Whltechurch 4-H Whitechurch 4-H held their first meeting on Friday at. Mrs. Wardrop's home. They. opened with the pledge and had guest speaker Mrs. Janet Reid, Huron , County health nurse speak on osteoporsis which is •.calcium deficiency of the bones. There are six members: Alison Wardrop, Cathy DOW, Maryon . Dow, Karen Elliott, Sherri Hutchison and Kristin Owens, -Mrs. Elliottiliscussed what ,girls had to do in the project and home activities. Mrs. Wardrop demonstrated nachos which resembles potato chips. President is Alison Wardrop; Vice-pres- ident, Maryon Dow; and press reporter, Karen Elliott. All girls take a turn at secretary when called upon.
