Lucknow Midgets come from behind in win and draw
The Lucknow Midgets posted back to
back wins over Brussels and a come from
behind tie with Teeswater in games this
week.
Last Wednesday in Brussels, the Luck -
now squad scored early but gave up two
power play goals to fall behind 2 - 1, by the
end of the first. But second and third
period action was Lucknow all the way as
they applied constant pressure and skated
to a 6 - 2 final.
Game star went to Dan Gilchrist who led
on offence with four straight goals and on
defence with powerful backchecking. Brad
Priestap collected three points on a pair of
goals and one assist. Other assists went to
Steve De Jong. Fred Flanagan, Jeff Gibson
(2), Andy Grazier, Muirray Houghton,

In Sunday's home game against Brus-
sels, the Lucknow squad took advantage of
a stronger bench and controlled most of the
game. While Brussels was able to catch up
twice in the first, two unanswered second
period goals and another in the third
preserved a 5 - 2 win.
Scott Hackett was the trigger man with
three goals and one assist. Steve Murray
picked up three assists and Andy Grazier
collected one goal and one assist. Single
points went to DeJong, Gilchrist and Van
Osch.
Monday night's contest against Tees -
water didn't solve a thing as the teams shot
their way to a 7 - 7 draw. Although the first
period was even hockey, Teeswater took
the lead with three goals late in the second
and still held a 7 - 4 edge late in the third.
But the game isn't over until the bell as the
Lucknow squad got a breath of fresh air
and scored three in the last three minutes
to tie the game.
On the scoreboard: Gary Forster one
assist; Danny Gilchrist, one goal, six
assists; Andy Grazier, one assist; Scott
Hackett, one goal; Murray Houghton, two
goals, one assist; Steve Murray, one assist;
Brad Priestap, two goals, one assist; Steve
Van Osch, one assist; Jeff Walden, one
goal.
With one week left in the schedule, the
Midgets are a .688 club with a 15-6-3
record. Action this week includes the
Ripley Tourny on Saturday, at home to
Shallow Lake on Monday and in Teeswater
on Tuesday.
Murrays, Stevenson help Atom As in games
The Lucknow Atom As chalked up
another win for themselves as they beat
Kincardine in, an exhibition game, over the
holidays. The score was 3 - 2.
Ray Dalton opened the scoring with
Warren Andrew assisting. Justin Murray
scored unassisted and Dwayne Porter
'scored the thi, d with Clint Murray
assisting.'
In regular season play, Lucknow also
beat Tiverton Jan. 8 with a score of 4 - 2.
Vince Sticklend racked up a hat trick,
assisted on each goal by Brad Rhody, Steve
Porter and Rob Crich. Brad Rhody opened
the scoring with Rob Crich assisting.
Another exhibition game against Elmira
resulted in a tie Saturday morning. Good
goaltending by Joel ' Sutton kept the score
even.
Chris Stevenson opened the scoring with
Justin Murray assisting. Clint Murray
scored unassisted, and Chris Stevenson
scored with Justin Murray assisting, tying
the game with seven seconds left on the

scored in the third period for an exciting
end to the game.
The Lucknow Atom As took a solid
beating from Howick on Tuesday evening.
Lucknow opened the scoring in the first
period, but Howick came back with four
goals in the second. Lucknow came out in
the third and scored two quick goals and
for a while it appeared as though they
might tie the game.
However, Lucknow seemed to run out of
steam and Howick blasted four more goals
past the goaltender making it an 8 - 4 game
for Howick.
Scoring for Lucknow were Matt Drennan
with Vince Sticklend assisting; Rob Crich
with Justin Murray assisting and two un-
assisted goals by Chris Stevenson.
Teeswater shows up Bantams
On Jan. 17, the Lucknow Bantams took a
severe whomping from Teeswater, with
Teeswater winning 3 - 2.
Although the score wasn't high, it was a
super win ' for Teeswater who played the
game with only seven players and a goalie.
Sheer determination and stubborness to
show they could do it, paid off for those few
Teeswater players who showed up for the
game.
Lucknow's; lack of positional play and
mental attitude lost this game for them.
Kevin deJong picked up two goals and
Harvey Kikkert and Jeff Gammie one
assist each,
On Sunday, Lucknow travelled to Park-
hill for what was supposed to be an exhibi-
tion game. Parkhill's main attempt, in the
game was to :rearrange; the „bodies cif the
Lucknow team.
The abilities of the Lucknow team wore
very evident in this game and coach
Harvey Livingston was overheard to
remark "hard to believe this is the same
team that played Teeswater Friday',. '
The score is questionable as the boys in
stripes left a lot to be desired. Official score
was Parkhill 3, Lucknow 3. Lucknow fans
scored it 4.2for Lucknow, Take your pick!

Peewee Bs suffer from
injuries, flu bugs and moving
Lucknow Peewee Bs travelled to Ripley
on Jana 15'.
Despite being short some regular play,
ers, the game was a well played game and
wds anybody's game.
' Lucknow squad has lost two valuable
players in Robin and Ken Neable who have
moved to Collingwood recently. The team
is hoping they will return for a possible
upcoming tournament. The best of luck to
them in Collingwood.
Dennis Johnston, a defenceman, is out
with a broken rib suffered in last week's
game with Teeswater.
The game started out with Lucknow's
Russ Sutton on the scoreboard assisted by
Marshall LeBreton. Ray Kikkert added a
second goal for Lucknow from a pass from
Paul Sande.
Ripley applied the pressure and scored
late in second period. Paul MacDonald
scored from Sam Snobelen and Mike
Hodgins.
Score at end of second period was 2 - 1,
Lucknow.
The third period was full of excitement
as the seesaw battle was on. It was Ripley's
Kevin Taylor unassisted and Ripley's Paul
MacDonald from Sam Snobelen providing
some of the excitement.
Then Ray Kikkert scored for Lucknow;
unassisted. The score was tied at three
with four minutes left to play. Ripley put on
extra pressure and Paul MacDonald scored
twice, assisted by Mike Anenberg, Final
score Ripley 5, Lucknow 3.
Despite injuries, flu bugs and moving,
Lucknow hopes to be at full force for their
next game Jan. 23.
Everyone's glad to see Travis out at the w
last game, getting around on crutches.
Lancers win high scoring game
The Lucknow Lancers hosted Teeswater
Sunday night and came away with a 10 • 9
victory. The Lancers came out flying in the
first and built up a S -1 lead by the end of
the period. Brad Humphrey opened the
scoring for the locals followed by Allan
adiewith two, Grant Gilchrist and Wayne
l hillips..

Two quick goals by Jim Murray and Brad
Humphrey early in the third, gave the Lan-
cer a three goal lead but Teeswater refus-
ed to quit and stormed back with four
straight goals for a 9-8 lead. Scott Mitchell
evened the Score on a Lancer power `play
and this paved the way for the go ahead
goal -by the ever dangerous Pat Murray.
Murray grabbed the puck at the blucline,.
dipped past the defense, slid past the
goalie and shoved the puck in the net. while.
laying flat out on the ice.
'The Lancers have just one, game nodi
weekend when they travel to Ripley ori
Friday night.
