Mr. and Mrs. Alex Percy were honored
on Sunday afternoon at the Kinlough
Presbyterian Church on the occasion of
their golden wedding anniversary. Over
.one hundred friends and relatives gathered
to wish the couple continued good health
and best wishes. Their attendants, Mrs.
Angus MacArthur and Mr. John Hodgins
were present to celebrate with them.
Guests were welcomed by their daught-
er, Mrs. Glen Haldenby and her family,
and served refreshments by the ladies of
the church. This community wishes them
continued happiness and loving support
and hope to meet with their whole family in
August.
Alex and Myrtle have three daughters
and one son, Marion Jansen of Cochrane,
Sandra Munro of Winnipeg, Wayne of
Edmonton and Erlma Haldenby of Kin -
lough. They lost one son, Eric in a farm
accident in 1959. They have 14 grandchild-
ren and four great grandchildren; one
granddaughter and one great granddaugh-
ter predeceased.
Kinlough WMS
Kinlough WMS held its January meeting
to1 n theyearly
paprogram.
Mrs. Don Bushell opened the meeting
with a poem Measure of Life and prayer.
Saviour Like a Shepherd Lead us was sung.
Letters of thanks were read from the shut-
ins for their Christmas boxes, Ewart
College and the Salvation Army.
Mrs. Bert Thompson had the devotions
entitled Looking towards the future. She
Luclmow Sentinel, Wednesday,
used a selection of Bible verses to illustrate
her theme and challenged each member to
reach out and care at home and abroad to
further His kingdom. The hymn Lord of
Light was sung and followed by prayer.
The programs were planned and each
person presented an article on the new
year as entertainment. Refreshments were
served by the hostess, Mrs. Glen Haldenby
and a fellowship hour followed.

Mrs. Tom MacDonaId, Mrs. Don
Bushell, Mrs. Don Robertson and Mrs.
Glen Haldenby from Kinlough Presbyter-
ian Church attended the Maitland Presby-
terial annual meeting in Wingham on
Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Boyle of conces-
sion 10 Huron visited on Tuesday evening
with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Rhody.
Sympathy is extended to Mrs Joseph
Cassidy and family of Teeswater (formerly
Kathleen Graham of our village) in the
death of her husband im Wingham hospital.
Donald Barr. of Waterloo was home with
his mother Mrs. John Barr over the
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Mac McDonald and
Jeffrey of Kincardine visited on Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Ken MacDonald and
family here.
Cardinal isfavorite winter bird

Heather Young's Grade 1 Room 1 is
learning about winter birds. The class
thinks the Cardinal is one of the prettier
birds!
In" `Room ' 10 Grade 3'taught by Lois'
Ottewell, the class has started 'a Snow Ice
unit. They are watching Jenean Todd's
tulip grow - the one Jenean got when bulbs
were given to all the primary students by
the Royal Canadian Legion in the fall.
Lois Tebbutt's Grade 3 and Grade 4 have
started a new program of individualized
Spelling. It is hoped that the students will
be able to assimilate their spelling with the
written language more readily after this
program.
Mrs. Cameron's Kindergarten 1 class is
talking about their families. They have
painted a family picture and made a graph.
On Wednesday they made snowflake
people.
The Grade 5 pupils from Portable One
BROOKSIDE
are working with Mrs. Blake this week on
dictionary skills. They are learning how .to
use their brand new dictionaries!
The Grade 2, of Judy Jewitt has begun
an Eskimo unit. They are learning about
homes, games, travel, language and food
of the Inuit people. They are also studying
animal life in the Arctic.
Sheila Clarke's Grade 2 Room 4 Space-
ship Alphabet is constructing a solar
system in the room. There is a slight
problem with Jupiter, though. The giant
planet with the huge red spot keeps failing
out of the skyl The class also did its first
research project this week. Working in
teams, the class found three facts about
each planet:
Future path is opening thought
On Jan. 9, 18 ladies met at the home of
Isabel Hunter for the regular meeting of
the Trinity UCW. President Mrs. Blake
Alton called the meeting to order with an
opening thought entitled I know not where
my path shall lead, and welcomed every-
one.
Mrs. Harvey Ritchie opened the devo-
tions with a New Year's Eve reading. All
sang My times are in Thy hand, and Take
my life and let it be. Mrs. Jerry Cranston
led the responsive reading Psalm 27 and
gave the prayer. Mrs. Harvey Ritchie gave
two readings Ringing in the Changes, and
What time means to you.
The rollcall was answered by a New
Year's thought and payment of fees.
Mrs. Don Alton and Mrs. Larry Wilkins
introduced the study book on Indians.
Mrs. Fred Phillips led the Bible study on
Selfishness. The service of the least coins
was observed. The meeting closed with
singing For Thy mercy and Thy grace. A•
delicious lunch was served by the hostess
and her committee.

Donnybrook UCW meets
The: New Year's meeting of Donnybrook
UCW was held Jan. 14, 1986 at the home of
Lois Chamney with Eileen Hanna and Elsie
Hardy in charge.
Eileen read the call to worship, Elsie
read a prayer and At the Portals
of the
Comm Year was sung, followed byPsalm
79 and tie hymn This is My Father's
World. Eileen read an article on Wonien in
Christian Development. All Things Bright
and Beautiful was sung after which Eileen
Hanna took over the business.
The rollcall was answered with sugges-
tions for the new year. The rollcall for
February is to be an article for a layette.
After Elsie rec4 a prayer for a New Year,
Eileen and Margaret Hildebrand assisted
the hostess to Acme a delicious lunch.
