Ripley Lions deliver Christmas cakes to seniors
The Ripley Lions paid their annual visit
on Saturday to the village senior citizens'
homes with a lovely Christmas cake - a
kindly gesture and friendly callers. Thank

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Burt spent Christmas
in Toronto with Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Franscisco and twin boys and 'other
relatives.
Mrs. Frank Maulden, treasurer for the
Kinlough and district Bible Society sent in
the returns of the annual fall canvass which
amounted to $446.55.
Gordon Hodgkinson, formerly of the
village, is now a resident at the Huronview
home for the elderly near Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs, Richard Page and the girls
of Burlington visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Page and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew
Page.
Mrs. Pearl Lloyd and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan
Lloyd of London visited Saturday with
Edna and ,May Boyle.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson and Lois
went to Wallaceburg to spend Christmas
with Mr. and Mrs. Allan Nicholson and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whiteside of
Toronto spent the weekend here with her
father, Mr., Arthur Haldenby. On their
return to the city on Sunday,they took
Arthur home with them to spend Christmas
and the holiday season.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron .Gillespie ' and David
held Christmas for relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Rhody and family
spent Saturday in London with Mr. and
Mrs. Wayne Rhody and. family.
' Mr. and Mr -s... Leonard Stanley and
family held Christmasdinner at the Stanley
residence.
Miss Norma Coutts of Wingham spent
Christmas with Edna -and May Boyle and
on Tuesday, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott . of
Ripley visited with Edna, May and Norma. -
Donald Barr of Waterloo spent Christ-
mas with his mother, Mrs. John Barr and
other relatives.
Mr. and. Mrs. Jack Hodgins had Christ-
mas dinner ' for the Hodgins relatives at
their borne.
John Lane of Port Elgin, Mrs. Frank
Maulden and Keith were dinner guests at
Christmas' with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Lane
and Blaine.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rhody and family
of London, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Rhody and
family of Kinlough and Mr. and Mrs.
Dennis Brace and Travers were all home
for Christmaswith their parents Mr. and
Mrs. Gerald Rhody.
Dungannon UCW enjoy Christmas .luncheon

A Christmas potluck was held by the
Dungannon UCW on Dec. 9 at 12 noon with
invited guests from other charges, it was a
sort of ecumenical meeting. Fifty adults
and six children sat down to a bountiful
dinner. -
After dinner, Bessie McNee had the
pleasure to present Rev. and Mrs. Robert
Roberts with a beautiful handmade quilt
which was made by a group of ladies from
Nile and Dungannon UCW. The Roberts
thanked everyone gracefully. Mrs. Tammy -
Williams was presented with a poinsettia
by. Donna Young from the Dungannon
UCW.

She was sent out by the Canadian Founda-
tion for World Development. Mr. Ken
Davis, founder of the foundation, . accom-
panied her.
Maria gave a most informative talk and
showed very moving slides "of the poorest
country in the world. Three nurseries have
been established by volunteers and they
also help develop youth and adult
programs and assure children of the
opportunity for self development. She was
thanked by Willetta McWhinneyand given
an envelope of money for her work in Haiti.
Ken Davis spoke of differentprograms
in which all can help some of these poorest
people in the world.
A Christmas carol singsong was enjoyed
then with Roberta Linskill as the pianist
Nora Saunders read poem, "The Christ
Child". The invited church's UCWs all
thanked Dungannon for the very interest-
ing afternoon. The slate of officers for 1986
