85 -year-old is first to cast vote
The first person to vote in West
Wawanosh at the; Brindley Auction
Centre on Nov. 14 was 85 year old
Evelyn Errington. Congratulations
to Robert Hallam who' was re-
elected to the position of reeve and
to councillors Doug Miller, Stuart
Alton; and Gordon Hunt. Ron
Snowden was acclaimed as deputy
reeve.
William J. Stothers, formerly of
Dungannon, passed away at Mait-
land Manor Health Care Centre in
Godcrich on Nov. 11 in his 92nd
year. Interment was in the Dungan-
non Cemetery last Monday. Sincere
sympathy is extended to his wife,
the former Marjorie McWhinney.
Harry and Gcrda Burgsma, wh%
had been planning a visit to their
native Holland soon, received word
that Harry's brother Andy • had
passed away in Holland on Nov.
15. Harry and Gerda were able to
leave the following day to share
this time with their family.
It was a cold afternoon setting for
the Godcrich Santa Claus parade
"Christmas on the Homefront" last
Saturday. Our own "Miss Dungan-
non" Colleen Dalton rode in the
parade with Princess Amy CCAoust,
and Prince, William Drennan and
threw candy canes to the many little
ones who lined the route. Lisa
(Brown) Gore!, Carol Nivins and
Colleen helped decorate the . float.-

loat:The driver was Cecil Cranston.
Congratulations to Cecil and
Maxine Pollock who celebrated
their 45th wedding anniversary on
Saturday, November 19.
Margaret Young had surgery at
the Godcrich hospital on Nov. 14
and was able to. return home 'on
Friday. We wish you a speedy
recovery, Margaret.
Little two year old Dean Bere,
son of David arYd Dorothy,
hospitalized at the Godcrich
hospital for a few days last week
and was able to return home on
Sunday.
Congratulations to Jennifer..Bere
who celebrated her ninth birthday
on Nov, 18.
Jean and Ivan Henderson of Wes-
ton visited 'the Errington/Wraith
relatives over the weekend.
Alexandra McGilvery celebrated
her Nov. ' 12 birthday by attending a
Retreat at the workshop at Water-
ford, Ontario. The theme of her
three day course,' `Soul Searching',

Dungannon Senior Citizens hosted
10 tables of euchre on Nov. 9.
Winners were Marie Park, Gloria
Pearson, Harold Gardiner and
George Cardiff.
Rev. Alex McGilvery baptized
Dakota Kenneth, son of . Julie
Stothers, Courtney Nicole, daughter
of Robert and Deb Robertson,, and
Kelly Lynn, daughter of Paul and
Patty Cooke, at the Nile Church on
Nov. 13.
In the absence of lay person
Sharon Wurm, Diane Park led the
worship service at Dungannon,
Donnybrook services. Tenillc
Cranston assisted by narrating the
children's .story.
Remember the up coming bazaar,
on Nov. 26, promoted by the Sun-
day School. Assisting will be the
CGIT, the Willing Workers,
Explorers, Messengers and UCW.
Haldenby families gather
The families of tho• late Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Haldcnby mct at the
Kinloss Community Centre on
Saturday for the annual Christmas
dinner. Seven of the 10 families
were represented with relatives
from Aylmer, London, Windsor,
Unionville and Kincardine. The
Glen 'Haldcnby family from, here
attended. • '
Keep in mind the Presbyterian
Sunday School concert is coming
on Dec. 4.

returned home from British Colum-
bia after visiting; for a week with
her parents and , members of her

Bessie Maulden of here and Bette'
McLeod, of Ripley, were dinner
guests on Thursday with .Nina
McDonald at Ripley.
Sunday • dinner guests ,with Mr.
and Mrs. Peter van Dam were Mr.
and Mrs. Ben Freeman of Godcrich
celebrating Mrs. Freeman ',s
birthday.
Edna and May Boyle visited on
Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. John
Scott at Ripley.
A reception was held at Lucknow
on Friday evening for Mr. and Mrs.
David Elliott recent newlyweds. We
extend our congratulations.

a poem the Worlds Bible. The
hymn Take my life and let it be,
was sung and the purpose was
repeated.
The rollcall was an Old time
Medical remedy answered by 12
members. The election' of officers
followed.,
MacPherson had the
devotions: We often take for
granted the beauty of nature which
God has blessed us with. Referen-
ces were made to the parable of the
sower and the seed. We need to be
attuned to God's voice in beauty,
strife and pain.
Bessie Maulden presented the
study beginning with the hymn "All
the way my Saviour leads me," The
theme was "Where there is no
vision the people perish," ` taken
from Proverbs,
Betty Bushell and Joan Barr each
gave a Remembrance poem.
A • clipping from a local paper
regarding a former resident of here
was passed around to show his
picture. Cornelius Zondervon was
so. grateful for their deliverance
from the enemy. : He came to
Canada from Holland.
Erlma Haldcnby presented a video
on third world dcbts•and its conse-
quences.
