stresses safety
precautions
Alice Doelman was hostess for
the Nov. 17 meeting of the Kinloss
Kairshea Women's Institute.
Maimie Roulston and Elsie Hous-
ton, directors, served dessert prior
to the meeting.
Senior Constable Andy Burgess,
who is the OPP Community Service
Officer, was the guest speaker.
Constable Burgess' father had been
the Presbyterian minister at the
South Kinloss Church 60 years ago.
Constable Burgess gave a very
informative talk and showed a
video named "Alone". In 1950, one
per cern of the drivers travelling
alone were women. Today, 50 per
cent of these drivers are women. A
woman alone is a prime target for
an attack, From the video, we
learned many helpful things, such
as: when you are going to a parked
car, always hold your keys in Your
hand; push the passenger seat as far
ahead as it will go and lock the
doors.. We should always travel
witha full tank of gasoline: If the
car malfunctions, stay in the car, ado
not raise the hood; keep your win-
dows closed, and put the sign 'Call
Police' in the window. We should
be in the habit of locking our car
doors, and our house doors with a
night chain.
Many questions followed this
video.
Seventeen members answered the
rollcall with "What factors
contribute to crime and violence?
Any 'solutions?"
Ruth Langen conducted a contest
on the names of places, towns or
villages in Bruce County.
A humorous 'tator' skit included
Alice as commentator, Elsie as the
dictator; Maimie as the irritator,
Alice as the hesitator, June as the
imitator, Gladys as the agitator,
Marion as the spectator and Ruth as
the participator.

HURON COUNTYJKABLE
.
In recent years,, the advanced technology has allowed cable 'TV
subscriptions to be delivered to town and country residences any-
where via a wireless personal cable system. The expense of run-
ning cable lines or installin-g new fibreoptic lines to each iresident
in the country is not feasible. installing a wireless cable unit into
each .household allows the subscribers to have access to over
120' free channels, with the option of subscribing to speciality
channels on an individual basis (thus bypassing the middleman,
"the cable company"). • '
This cable service can also be provided to the existing satellite
dish owner with a simple modification to their equipment.
Allen Stubbs...Eirst in Entertainment has had over 10 years expe-
rience in providing cable TV subscription signals from their pri-
vate cable systems throughout Ontario. Therefore, the wireless
residential units are a natural addition to their product lines.
Allen Stubbs has beengranted the exclusive right to rent, lease,
or -sell wireless Country Kable systems throughout Huron County.
Additional information can. be obtained by calling the Allen
Stubbs office in Thedford and talking to one of their five repre-
sentatives throughout the county. Monthly ,magazines, channel
charts and pricing, free viewing of a VHS promotional
tape, information packages, free information seminars and much
more can be obtained by calling today. • j1
