Thede and Eagleson,
vie for Bruce warden
By Pat Halpin
Thera are still two candidates in
the race for 1995 warden of Brun:
County, but they aren't the same
candidates as they were before last.
week's municipal election.
In June, Saugeen.Township Reeve
Harry Thede and Carrick Township
Reeve George Goetz declared they
would run for the top post in
county politics.
Last Monday, Goetz lost in his
bid for re-election as reeve. The
loss means Goetz will no longer sit
on county council or be eligible for
the warden's job.,
That left Thede alone in the race
until Tuesday morning (Nov. 15),
when Tara Reeve Paul Eagleson,
announced he will let his name
stand for warden.
Eagleson was acclaimed to his
fourth term as reeve by Tara voters
in last Monday's election. The
position also returns Eagleson to his
seat on county council, where he
has been nominated twice but until
now declined to run for county
warden.
The election for warden will be
held in Walkerton on Dec. 12.
Meanwhile, county council will
see a major change following last
week's municipal elections. Eight
county reeves went down to defeat
and another six reeves declined to
run in that election. This means'
about half the council will change.
Bruce Township Reeve Ron
Andrews was the only loser absent
from last Tuesday's county council
meeting.
