a fully active steady tradQ. Cows
sold for $2 lower. Veal calves sold
$2 higher, with the lambs selling 55

It's ladies night out
The Bruce County Cattlemen's
ladies, night .is scheduled for Satur-
day,Nov. 19 at the Walkerton
Knights of Columbus Hall starting
with a social hour at 6 p.m., a hot
beef supper at 7 p.m. followed by a
dance to the Parish Family. Tickets

Safety Courses
Do you have your Pesticide .
Safety Certificate yet? In 1996, the
regulations are being changed to
require a certificate to purchase any
agricultural chemical, including the
ones' which are now exempt. If you
haven't got your certificate, now
would be 'a good , time to think
about it.. There are also many
farmers .who will have to renew
their certificate this year.
To obtain a certificate, or to
renew one, you arc required - to
attend a one -day training session,
including an open -book test. Local
agri-businesses will, be sponsoring
courses throughout the county
• during the winter, so watch for the
ads or ask your local dealer when

Save Those Lambs
One of the more exciting com-
rnoditics• that is showing a profit
margin is the sheep industry. Every
lamb saved increases profit poten-
tial.
With this in mind the OMAFRA,
the Ontario Sheep Agency and the
Ontario Agricultural .Training.
Institute are sponsoring a sheep
seminar series entitled "Save Those
Lambs". The speakers include a
number of experts who arc involved
in sheep research and production.
They include Gary Rickets, Univer-
sity of Illinois; Dr. Mary Smith,
Cornell University; and Dr. Paula
Menzies & Dr. Brian Buckrell,
Ontario Veterinary College, Guelph.
Topics include - mastitis control.,
culling, fostering, late gestation
nutrition, stomach tubing, hypother-
mia, and feeding the ewe lamb for
future production.
The •closestlocation is Atwood
and wilt be held on Dec. 7.
Registration' is at 9:30 a.m. The
cost, which includes a hot lamb

Arrest
man in
Lucknow
Charges are pending against an
18 -year-old Listowel pian who was
arrested to Lucknow and allegedly
found with LSD,
The man was arrested on an
outstanding warrant for failing to
appear in court.
When he was searched he was
found with a film container that
may contain LSD.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING HURON COUNTY
CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Huron County Long Term Gare Planning Committee is pleased
to announce that funding is available to develop Supportive Housing
programs in Huron. The purpose of Supportive Housing is to help
elderly people and adults with physical disabilities residing in not for
profit housing to remain in their normal and familiar environments by
providing them. with assistance.
The Supportive Housing Task Force, on behalf of the Long•Term
Care Planning Committee, is requesting proposals from non-profit
agencies who are interested in providing Supportive Housing ser
vices
