Remembrance was the theme for
the.meeting of the Lucknow Pres-
byterian Women's Missionary
SoL'icty held in the church on Nov.
2.
Norma Raynard was in charge of
the program and opened with .a
poem "Poppies." Rhoda MacKenzie
read the devotions, which had been
prepared by Donalda Moffat. The
scripture was Matthew 5: 1 - 12
and the theme was "Blessed are the
Peacemakers, for they are called the
children of God."
Shirley Hawthorne read three of
Helen Steiner Rice's poems Heart
Gifts, Any place is place of prayer
if God is there, and Prayer's can't
be answered unless they are prayed.
The rollcall was answered with a
verse on remembrance or peace.
The topic was in, the form of an
introduction to the' new five-year
plan which the WMS is adopting
and was presented by Mildred
Lorce.
Donalda Moffat played the piano
for a sing song, ending with the
hymn "Let there be Peace on
Earth.
President Shirley Hawthorne
conducted the business. It was
decided to once again, make
donations to the CNIB, Talking
Books, Sleeping Children Around
rhe World and die Presbyterian
World Service and Development
Fund.
Norma thanked everyone who had
contributed towards the meeting and
following the closing hymn read a
poem of , Encouragement and
Prayer, Maudie Fisher . and Alice
Taylor served a delicious Zurich.
Convention theme: pour out your spirit

"Pass it left!" someone shouts.
The girls and boys soccer tour-
nament was held on Sept. 16. The
girls had four games. They tied two
games, lost one game and won one
game. The girls came in second.
The boys had three games. They
lost one game and tied one game
and lost the shootout.
The teachers convention was held
this year on Oct. 28 and 29. Those
days the• children had no school.
The convention's theme was "Pour
out your spirit" and was held in
Toronto. This year OCSTA's (O-
ntario Christian School Teacher's
Association) celebrates its 40th
anniversary.
The Grade three leaf projects are
going along fine. Many of them
handed them in already. They were
LDCS EXPRESS
fun to do and lots of them look
really good.
Grades 1, 2 and 3 went to the
conservation area to see lots of
things and learn about nature. The
program was called Tender Twigs.
They rubbed leaves and bark under
a paper with a. crayon to see the
pattern of the leaves and. bark. "It
was neat" commented one of the
Grade 2's.
Our Grade 1 and 2 teacher had' a
baby boy on Oct. 25: His name is
Micah Alexander. This is the
second child for Mr. and Mrs.
Nonkes. ,
Career day was on Nov. 2. Grade
1 would appreciate

7 and 8 went to the F.E. Madill
highschool and looked at the career
booths that were in the gym. There
were about 42 different careers to
look at. . Some of them were
hairstyling, insurance, banking,
accounting, designated driving,
volunteer work, senior citizen home
work, radio work and many more.
A lot of the booths gave out
pamphlets, little pads, keychains
and other little things. "It was very
interesting,"remarked one of the
group.

wide array of home -baked goodies tempting even the most diet
