gear up
for busy
year
The Lucknow and District
Kinsmen. Club is heading into a
very busy year in 1995, as fund -
rasing for the new sports complex
begins. The Kinsmen have pledged
$100,000 to the sports complex,
which along with other regular
commitments will see them raising
$150,000 for community service.
Several events are planned to
achieve this goal. The first is their
New Years Eve dance. Along with
the Community Centre Board, the
Kinsmen will be putting all profits
from the night towards the arena.
Steve Chamney, who chairs the
event this year, says the $30 cost
per ticket will be ail -inclusive =
dance, party favors, lunch and
refreshments. -
"This year we'll introduce. the
`Lucknow Kinsmen Arena Drive
Mug' to avoid all that waste that in
the past has been annoying to some
would be goers," said Chamney.
Every person will be given one of
the `mugs' when they enter and
only these mugs will be used for
refreshments. Chamney said this
will eliminate the scenario where
one person gets a tray of drinks and
some are wasted. "With these chan-
ges to the evening, we hope to
attract the crowd that we've lost in
the past, and make this the most
successfuj New Years dance ever,"
said Chamney.
Another new twist to the evening
is the special `abstainer' admission
charge of $20.
As usual the Kinsmen will have
special evenings for tickets sales.-
Dec. 8 and 15, between 7 and 9
p.m. at the Community Centre.
`Blyth' ends
20th with
a big bang
The Blyth Festival has done it
again! Canadian plays, audience
enthusiasm, and imaginative hard
work have created a new ex-
citement at the .Festival.
The four mainstage productions
drew a paid attendance of 79.4 per
cent or 31,081 people, an increase
of 29 per cent over the previous
year.
He Won't Come In From The
Barn by Ted Johns was a huge
success, drawing 12,346 seats or
94.4 per cent capacity: It was held
over for one week„ which was sold
out.
Glengarry School Days by Anne
Chislett drew 711 per cent of
capacity, 6,654 seats. Bouncing
Back by Suzanne Finlay played to

capacity, and The Black Bonspiel of
Wullie MacCrimmon by W.O.
Mitchell sold 6,18.4 seats, represen-
ting 71.6 per cent capacity.
Special events have ' played a
major part in the success of the
season. The Twentieth Year
Retrospective brought back many
wonderful artists from' the past,
includifig Miles Potter, Kate Trotter,
Trish Vanstone, Bob King, Jim
Schaefer, Seana McKenna, Jack
Blum and John Roby.
The audience enjoyed great
moments from past hits as well as a
fabulous meal in the courtyard.

Catherine McKinnon, as well as
Graham and Eleanor Townsend all
donated their tiine and talent this
year.
The great Gala Dinner Auction of
'94 was organized by a veritable
phalan)c of volunteers under the
direction of board member Gayle
Waters.. It . was not only a huge
financial' success but great fun for
all the lucky bidders.
Finally, board , member Duncan
McGregor has produced and
directed a wonderful children's

Everyone loves a bazaar no matter what the age: Mary Gwen
Miltenburg, 21/2, is no exception. She was one of the younger
people attending the St. Augustine CWL's pre -Christmas
bazaar last Saturday: As soon as she entered the filled' hall,
little Mary Gwen's eye was caught by the miniature swing set
she is holding. The piece was made by 84 -year -old -Art Van
Lammeren, of London, who is Emma Franken's father. He
takes great pride in his work. Mr. Van Lammeren makes a
variety of different miniature pieces, many of them out of
clothes pins and popsicle sticks. (Pat Livingston photo)

HURON COUNTY- KABLE
In recent years, the advanced technology has allowed cable TV
subscriptions to be delivered to town and country residences any-
where -via a 'wireless personal cable system. The expense of run-
ning cable lines or installing new fibreoptic lines to each resident
in the country is not feasible. Installing a wireless cable unit into
each household allows the subscribers to have access to over
120' free 'channels,) with the option of subscribing. to speciality
channels on an individual basis (thus bypassing the middleman,
"the cable company"). i
This cable service can also be provided to the existing satellite
dish owner with a simple modification to their equipment.
Allen Stubbs...First in Entertainment has had over 10 years expe-
rience in providing cable TV subscription signals from their pri-
vote cable systems throughout Ontario. Therefore, the wireless
residential units are a ncttural.bfiditiop to their product lines.
Allen Stubbs has beengranted the exclusive right to rent, lease,
or sell wireless Country Kable systems throughout Huron County.
Additional information can be obtained by calling the Allen
Stubbs office in Thedford and talking' to one of their five !repre-
sentatives throughout the county. Monthly magazines, channel
charts and pricing, free viewing of a VHS promotional
tape, information packages, free information seminars and much
more can be obtained by calling today.lire
