Tall people have their problems too
Fellow editor/columnist Shelley
McPhee Hoist (Focus
Newsmagazine) was recently
caught 'crying the blues' in her
column about vertically challenged
people who get the short end of
the stick.
While I can empathize with the
predicaments Shelley faces as one
of the "petite" people of the
world, I wanted to point out that
we "less than petite" people quite
often get the short end of the stick
as well.
Bathroom vanities, at least the

one in my house, were made for
people with less height than I. No
doubt designed by someone more
petite than myself, any attempts to
gracefully wash your 'face or brush
your teeth end up with a visit to
your favorite chiropractor, or
toothpaste and water all over the
place except where it's supposed
to be.
'Tls'the fall season and with It many organizationsstart to meet
again. Lindsey Raymond, Sarah Mann arid Adria Graham were
enrolled as Pathfinders during a special service last week. (Pat

Doing dishes at a sink designed
for the more petite person is back -
'breaking labor. Shelley, we really
do appreciate when the more
petite guest offers to wash.
And Shelly, it really is to your
advantage to have to shorten ar-
ticles. At least you get a proper
length. How about us tall folks
who often have trouble in pur-
chasing something with enough
length. There's nothing more
aggravating than wearing slacks
that look like 'flood pants' when
you walk.
Doesyour back get sore when
you vacuum, Shelley? Try doing
this household chore with your
vacuum hose extension about half
the length it is. Obviously
another piece of equipment
designed by a more "petite" per-
son.
The long and the short of itis,
Shelly, that whether we are tall or
short, we all have our burdensto
bear.
However, there is one little
idiom you should keep in mind:
The closer to the ground you are,
the less distance.you have to fall!
Effort was worthwhile
