"In a war, everyone suffers...:we must never
let it happen again."
The War limps beffeves"it has a responsibility to warn younger
generations about the true horrors of war. Who better to
recount the battles as they really happened than the veterans
who. experienced war firsthand? The NEVER AGAIN!
videos provide historical accounts of Canada's participation in
the First and Second World Wars and Korea.
Military preparedness may be a necessary deterrent, but we
must strive to avoid another global conflict.

ORG launch new attack on Rae
by Cameron J. Wood
Following a quiet victory over the
Ontario government's policy
-implementation over certain
highway signs, the Toronto-based
Qntari.ans for Responsible
Govemment,(ORG) has launched a
new attack on Premier Bob Rae and
the NDP.
Unveiled .in Wingham last
Thursday, the new campaign strikes
directly at Rae and his government.
The plan calls for 70 billboards to
be erected in each of the NDP -held
ridings across the province, each
bearing the message to vote against
Rae and the NDP. The proposed
billboards contain pictures • of a
llyswauer - Kills Flys; a mousetrap
Kills Mice; and Rae - Kills Jobs.
In addition, the group has also
launched a radio campaign, once
again based on the Buffalo Business
Boosters concept.
The original radio campaign a
couple of years ago had the
• fictional - business . organization
honoring Bob Rae as its man of the
year for all he had done for cross-
border shopping. This time Rae is
being honored with a "Lifetime
Achievement Award" and the
message. is "If Bob Rae wins, you
lose."
"People say 'Why bother ?',"
ORG executive director Thom
Corbett said at the press conference.
"We wish we could be so confident
(that Rae is unlikely to win the next
provincial election)."
Corbett said the ORG is targeting
the Rae government for
"unelection" because of many
policies it has enacted o - the past
four years. The ORG recently won
a battle with the government over
stipulations in the Highway Traffic
Act regarding roadside billboards
and banners. The NDP tried to use
a loophole to stem an ORG
campaign opposing changes to the
Labor Act allowing farm laborers to
unionize.
The ORG is a non-partisan group,
Corbett explained. He said their
campaigns, and those of their parent

group, the National Citizens
Coalition, have been equally critical
of the Mulroney and Trudeau
federal governments.
"We're talking about debt and
deficit. The forecast is for $2.5
billion more than 'anticipated...this
government is mortgaging the
future for our children and
grandchildren. We will remind the
voters of the harm this government
has done over the past four years,"
Corbett said.
"The government argues it
inherited a recession. Well, so did
the rest of Canada, but Ontario is
lagging behind (in recovery),"
Part of the reason for the slow
Ontario renewal, Corbett said, is
that people are spending less money
in the province. The consumers are
fearful of Rae's policies and
investors are being turned away
with strict labor laws and more
powerful. union rights.
"After the first four short years of
NDP government, we now have
200,000 fewer people employed
thep when they first squeaked into
power. Add to this a near doubling
of the welfare roll to 1,300,000 (as
opposed to 730,900 in September
1990) and a doubling of the
'provincial deficit to $90 billion and
it's obvious to most Ontarians that
the NDP has lost their moral right
to rule," Corbett said.
If the government plans on
fighting the upcoming election on
the so-called success of their
jobsOntario plan, they will face a
well-deserved defeat. Although the
government is waging .,a multi-
million dollar ad campaign touting
the success of this plan, the fact
remains that they have only created
47,000 jobs through a plan that cost
35 cents of every, dollar spent ,lust
to administer it.
"When it comes to ideology and
job creation, Bob Rae and the NDP
are dedicated to stamping out the
private sector in order to fulfill their
goal of more control over the
economy and the population."
Statistics provided by the ORG
show in comparison between
September 1990 and September,
1994, the unemployed ranks rose
from 37,000 to 516,000; the..
Ontario credit rating dropped frc fit
Triple A to Double A and the debt
went from $42.3 billion to $90.4
billion.
The ORG states several ways the
government can get the economy
back on track:
1. Privatize non-profit housing
program, which costs $1 billion per
year, and other government
programs.
2. Balanced Budget Legislation.
3, Massive tax reductions.
