Culberts visit at Peacock Point
Harvey and Beck Culbert visited
last weekend with.Harvey's cousins
Ruddy and Evelyn (Irwin) Clemm,
at Peacock Point, on Lake Erie and
with cousins Al and Edna (Irwin)
Grenier of Kitchener, who were
visiting Ruddy and Evelyn at that
`time. On the way home they visited
with Elmer and Betty McWhinney
in Norwich. Elmer and Betty were
married in Scotland in 1943 and
Harvey was Elmer's best man.
Sincere 'sympathy to family and
friends of Mary (Moylan) Frayne
who passed away on Sept.. 26 at
Maitland Manor, Goderich, age
years. Mary Moylan taught school
at Kingsbridge from September
1938 to June 1940. Her funeral
Mass was celebrated by Father
Reitzel in St. Joseph's Church,
Kingsbridge on Sept. 29 with burial
in Kingsbridge cemetery.
Meet the teacher night was held
at Brookside Public School on Sept
28, when parents toured the school
and met the teachers. Principal Rick
Whiteley and the Parent Advisory
Council made brief presentations
followed by a September book sale.

non Senior Citizen's Centre 6n

This meeting was called to inform
candidate landfill. site owners of
West Wawanosh, Ashfield . and
Colborne Townships of the on-site
drilling program to verify the
presence of any exclusibnary
hydrogeological conditions and
provide important preliminary infor-
mation that will be used in the final
ranking of -candidate sites in Stage
3A.
Seven candidate landfill sites are: •
two in West Wawanosh Township -
sires W3, part lots 19 and 20,
Concession 7, approximately 106.7
acres belonging to Cecil Cranston
and W5 (2) part lots 22 and 23,
Ctlncession 7 - approximately 63.3
acres belonging to Mary and Wayne
Redmond. Two in Ashfield
• Township - sites Al, 'part lot 8,
Concession XIV, East Division,
Approximately 97.1 acres owned by
Casey and Cathy Hendriks and site
A3, part lot 4, Concession XIII,
East Division and parts loLs 4 and 5
Concession XIV East Division
approximately 86.5 acres owned by
Jim and Allan Gibson. There are
three candidate landfill sites in
Colborne Township to' be decided
on.

Jean Phillips returned home from
Severn Lodge, Muskoka, where
they spent a few days.

where he was a patient.

Congratulations to Ken Logten-
berg son of Dcrk and the late Tin, ie
Logtenberg of RR. 1, Dungannon
and Agnes Van Osch daughter of
Joe and Thelma Van Osch R.R. 3,
Lucknow who were married in St.
Joseph's Church, Kingsbridge on
Saturday. A large crowd attended
an open reception at the Lucknow
Community Centre.
There were 13 tables of euchre in
play at the Dungannon Senior
Citizen Centre on Sept. 28. High
prizes were won by Kay McCor-
mick' and Nelson Pearson with low
winners' Alexandra McGilvery and
Joe Courtney.
Seniors will host a public meeting
this afternoon Oct. 5 at 2- p.m., an
old tyme dance on Oct. 7 and a fun
day on Oct. 22 with arca senior
groups invited. -
B.elle Mole has moved into the
Glenn Haven Apartments in Luck -
now. Belle has been very active in
area groups and. will be greatly
• missed..

Thursday upon his, retirement after

Michelle's 16th birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Orland Irwin
returned home recently from a two-
week trip to Lytton, B.C. to visit
Steve and Clara Irwin and family,
and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Crowston
and family.
The Whitechurch WI held a des-
sert euchre party on Sept. 26 with
16 tables in play. High score for the
ladies was Marjorie Coupes, with
Delores Culbert in second high.
Playing on a• white card for.the men
was high Bev Hayden' and Muriel
Moffat second: Wilfred Donnel had
the most shoots. Draw prizes were
won by Jean Walker, Carolyn Cun-
ningham and Jean Deyell,

St. Augustine Roman Catholic

Chalmers Women's' Missionary
Society met on Sept. 21 at the
home of Jean Ross, with dessert
served prior to the meeting.
Dora Neilson, leader, gave the
call to worship reading the scripture
and presenting the meditation on
Autumn.
Mildred Purdon and Janet Cook
gave readings, on Time and Today.
Mrs. Neilson gave the topic on
"What to take along."
The business was conducted and
various reports received.
The Fall Thankoffering is Oct. 19
at 7:30 p.m. with Gwen Brown
froni Camp Kintail as the guest
speaker.
Janet Cook will host the Novem-
ber meeting at her home in Luck -
now'.

MacLeod. We all hope it continues,

Bette MacLeod, Katherine Collins,
Bessie Maulden and her sister Jean
from . Fonthill, were among the
ladies enjoying the holiday to
Severn Lodge this past week.
Joan Roe and Marion Gamble saw
the Five Star quilt display in
Tceswater on the weekend. It was
good to see some Ripley ladies with
their beautiful quilts.
Edna Stanley and Bette MacLeod
were dinner guests with Mr, and
Mrs. Oren Rock Friday evening.
Katherine Collins, John Collins,
and Sandra. McGillivray attended
their cousin, Dorothy Bell's -funeral
in• Detroit last Thursday.

Don and 'Anne McCosh had a
busy week with callers celebrating,
Anne's birthday on Sept. 28. Anne
is 84 years young.
