Vera Schmidt read the scripture. A mini -report on family affairs, prepared by Ruth Langen and read by Alice Doelman, told of the Cairo International Conference held recently on population control. One agreement made was not to limit the number in a family by threat of punishment, when abortion and use of contraception was discussed. However, they did agree on a few• issues, mainly that each country WMS looks at the pros and cons of tourism The Ashfield WMS rnet on Sept. 19 at Camp Kintail, with Helen MacLennan as hostess.. The meeting opened with two poems Farewell to Summer and Natures Best Bargains and June Wylds welcomed the members. Beryl MacDonald was our .pianist for the meeting. A review of the Glad Tidings was followed by the offering Nora Robb gave the offertory prayer. The Study book on the Caribbean was the Chapter entitled "The Seamy Side of Paradise". Tourism in the Caribbean is good for the country because it gives employment to many people, however, much of the profit goes to other countries, the ones with large investments in the tourist industry. Mrs. MacDonald gave the devotions - God provides for us and we should care for one another and be generous to those in need. Rollcall was answered with an autumn verse: Collection of the Least Coin was taken with the focus on Armenia. Mrs. MacLennan conducted the business. The nominating committee and Ladies Aid gave their reports.
