Thom descendants gather at cottage
Thirty-one descendants of the
family of Edward Thom and
Rosemary Miller of the St. Helens
area. in West Wawanosh Township
gathered at the cottage of Don and
Bev Thompson, at Amberley Beach
on Sunday, for their annual get-to-
gether.
All four daughters . of Ned • and
Rosa were present: Margaret
Thompson, ' Helen Rothwell and
Kathleen Collyer, of Lucknow, and
Jean Martin of Long Beach,
California and a summer resident of
. Amberley Beach.
Barry and Mary Lemoine and
boys, from .Gloucester,spent last
week with Ilien and . August
Letnoine. Glen and Sandra and
family, from Owen Sound, and Gail
and Reg and boys, from St.
Thomas, were down to spend a day
during the week for a family get-to-
gether.

Seven .tables of shoot were in
play at the Drop In Centre last
week, with Isobel Kilpatrick and,
Andy Scott taking high positions.
Ruth Conley and Wilbur Brown
were in low positions, with Art
Ernewein having the most shoots.
Jack and Lois and John Maclnnes,
from Palmerston, and Katherine,
Robert, and • David from Ripley
enjoyed holidayslast week with
Freda Maclnnes.
Todd ,Riegling has returned to
Nanaimo, B.C., after spending a
week in Lucknow and Kingsbridge
areas.
While here he attended the 50th
anniversary of his grandparents,
Fran and Carl Riegling. He also
visited with his grandmother Sara
Ritchie, uncles and aunts, cousins
and friends of the Riegling and
Ritchie families.
Todd expects to travel . to
Australia and New Zealand in the
fall.
' It is hard to imagine that summer
is nearlyhalf over with the first
group of swimmerscompletingtheir
lessons this week.
At the combined service held in
Lucknow Presbyterian Church on
Sunday morning special music was
provided ' by Bruce, Barb and
Rachel Bushell and Alan Grant.
This Sunday will be the annual
Kirkin 0' the Tartan service...

Bells enjoy cruising with Ackerts
"`Cruising down the river' could
most certainly be the theme song
for a trip on the Kawartha
Voyageur, along the beautiful
Trent -Severn waterways," says Ruth
Bell.
Ruth and her husband, Don,
recently returned froma five-day
cruise from Peterborough to the Big
Chute marine railway, a distance of
150 miles through 22 locks. This, is
one of. three cruises offered by the
Ontario Waterway Cruises Inc.,
owned and operated by former
Kinloss Township residents, Lloyd
and Helen Ackert, their sons John
and Marc, and their wives Joy and
Heather.

The other .. two cruises go east
from Peterborough through the. Bay
of Quinte to Kingston,then on w
the Rideau Canal system to Ottawa.
