competition this Friday

This year's competition will have
a change in venue. A trailer will be
set up in Caledonian Park, near the
Lions gazebo, where the crowds
should be even bigger, since the
Craft Festival is located in the arena
complex.
The competition is open to
teenagers between the ages of 13
and 19. The prize purse totals $175
- $100 for fust, $50 for second and
$25 for third.

:50s - '60s theme, so pick out a
favorite tune from that era, get in
your parents' closets and dig out
those `groovy' clothes, and get
practicing!

be performances by area business
people, who are once gain after the
`coveted' trophy.

`Biggest and best' fiddlers
jamboree in Lucknow
"We're still being billed as the.
biggest and best in Ontario by those
who have attended this event," says
organizer Bev Hanson, as she talks
about the 6th Annual Fiddlers Jam-
boree set for this Sunday in Luck -
now.
"People come from all over On-
tario, Michigan and New York
states to participate in the Jamboree
sponsored by the Point Clark Old
Tyme Music Association and the •
Village of Lucknow," says Hanson.
The jamboree is a fun filled, toe -
tapping afternoon that has grown in
leaps and bounds since its inception
six years ago. "Lucknow is a great
place to have the Jamboree," says
Hanson. "We are delighted with the
warm reception we receive from
organizations and business people."
This year there is well over $700
in door prizes donated by area
businesses, and of course there's
the sought after prizes for the oldest
lady and gent, and youngest boy
and girl performers. The hospitality
and generosity is very humbling for....
me," says Hanson.
On Saturday night, the organizers
are planning an old-fashioned
hootenanny and plans are in the
works for the performers to tour the
village giving a wee bit of a
demonstration of what to expect on
Sunday.
This year Hanson says they issued
special invitations to seniors in
local homes for the aged. A group
from Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, is
expected to take in the event as
well.
The Jamboree gets underway at
12:30 on Sunday. Admission is $3
for adults, and 12 and under free
with an adult. Food is available on
site. Musicians receive free entry
and supper. Remember to bring
your lawn chairs.
