Rhodys host farewell party for Joan and Charlie
On Sunday evening, July 10,
relatives, former neighbors and
friends gathered at Allan Rhody's
home for a farewell dinner party for
Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Murray who
have moved from Con. 10 to their
home at Lucknow. A presentation
of a barbecue was made by Gerald
Murray and Allan Rhody, as a
reminder of their days on the 10th.
Visitors with Edna and May
Boyle were Mr. and Mrs. Kermit
Thompson and their son Ivan of
Lucan, and Mr. and Mrs. John Scott
of Ripley.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jansen and
Jessica, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael
Jansen, of Cochrane, visited during
the week with Myrtle Percy and
other relatives here.
Bessie Maulden returned home on
Tuesday after spending a while with
her sister Jean Phillips at Fonthill.
Kay Thacker of the South Line
visited with her brother Mr. and
Mrs. Bert "Nicholson and their
daughter, Lois, at Kincardine.
Visiting at the same home were
their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Worman, and their son, Kevin, of
Melfort, Saskatchewan.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Zabalotney of
Fort McMurray, Alberta, were here
attending the funeral of her nephew
Jason Weber of Teeswater. Besides
being with the Webers they visited

with her parents Mr. and Mrs Weir
Eckenswiller, Mr. and Mrs: Steven
Eckenswiller, of Walkerton, and at
Donny McFarlan's home. Mrs.
Zabalotney is a sister of Mrs.
Weber.
The 24th Haldenby picnic was
held at the Haldenby faun,
Westford, on July 17 with 88 in
attendance.
Joe Zold got the prize for eldest
man and Margaret Anderson for the
eldest lady. Jessie Johnston won the
prize for the youngest. Games were
played by all and this was followed
by a delicious meal.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Freeman of
Goderich visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Van Dam.
Visitors during the week with
Edna and May Boyle were Wahnet-
ta . Moore and her daughter,
Florence Stanley of Alva, Florida,
and Marretta Hodgins of Niagara
Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Bushell visited
with Brian and Betty Anne
Thompson and their girls recently.
Myrtle Percy visited with Mr. and

Holyrood WI
The Holyrood Women's Institute
met recently at the home of Char-
lene McEwan, Con. 10. Myrtle
Percy presided and welcomed all
with the usual opening.
Lorraine MacPherson read the
minutes. Rollcall was to share an
enjoyable summer holiday.
Mrs. McEwan read the 10 com-
mandments for farm.meals.
Joan Murray gave a full report on
the conference she attended in Nova
Scotia as a delegate, and showed
some souvenirs she brought home.
She attended the presentation with
a video on Nova Scotia and its
important places.

Dave MacDonald of Lochalsh,
Finlay MacLennan of Kitchener and
formerly of Lochalsh, and John
MacKay III from London, recently
entertained by playing the bag pipes
at the Kintail Cemetery.
In the article "Bid farewell to the
Nugents" (July 13), Finlay Mac-
Donald should have been referred
to as a cousin of Mabel Mac-
Donald. not a brother

For the Love of Horses
One June 16, the Lucknow 4-1-1
group "For the Love of Horses"
travelled to Monkton to see a horse
breeding farm.
Various ways of breeding a mare
were explained. A stallion was
persuaded to stick his head out of
the stall and then a mare was
walked over to where the stallion's
head was. This is called "teasing".
Members had the opportunity to
view riders lassoing from their
horses.

On Sunday July 17, Krystal Pan-'
zavellhia, daughter of Glenda Park,
celebrated her fifth birthday at the
home of her grandparents John and
Marina Park with aunts, uncles,.
cousins and brother Joey partaking
in a barbecue.
Great uncle Ken Petrie and Krys-
tal both chose July.14 for their birth
date. . •
Another successful teen dance
was held at Dungannon Agriculture
Hall on Friday evening. The Teen
Council, comprised of three ener-
getic gals Kelly, Jennifer and Amy,
are to be congratulated for, their
efforts of rejuvenating .the wash-
rooms.
Family Fun Days are set for Aug.
5, 6 and 7.
Nancy and Neil Stapleton and
daughter, Mary Katherine, who
teaches school at. Mount Cannel,
• have returned from a 10 day tour of .
Ireland. Points of interest visited
from Dublin airport were Galloway
Bay, Kissing the Blarney Stone and
an overnight stay at Dungannon,
. Ireland.
Heather Anne, eldest daughter of
Nancy and .Neil, and Rob Aucoin,
of Toronto, IN ill be. married Aug.
13.
