A delicious smorgasbord dinner was enjoyed. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert MacDonald of Detroit, Alba r MacIntyre of T.eeswater, Gladys Funston of Reid's Corners, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Forster, Mary McIntosh, and Elsie Houston all of Lucknow. The Lucknow Legion Pipe Band provided the Sunday evening program at the park in Goderich this week which was enjoyed by everyone present. Mr. and Mrs. John Crow of South Lyon, Michigan, spent a weekend recently with Mary McIntosh. Mrs. Crow was the former Marlene MacLennan and will be remembered by many in the area. There were six tables of shoot in play at the Drop in Centre last week, Gerda deJong and Art Ernewein were in high positions, with Muriel Moffat and Teresa Courtney, in low positions. Byler - Eli and Verna of R.R. 2, Lucknow, welcome with love their son, Daniel E. Byler, born July 3, 1994, at Wingham and District Hospital, weighing 7 lbs. Monsma - David and Melissa are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Phyllis Darlene on June 16, 1994, at. Kin- cardine District Hospital, weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz. Proud grandparents are Loma and Martin Phelan of Ripley, Albert Middlecamp of Toronto, and Henry and Sophy Monsma of Ripley. Wilcocks - Knoop - Rick and Margaret are pleased to announce the safe arrival of their first child, Kyle Richard. Michael is the grandson of Bonita Marleau of Mississauga, Michael Marleau of Dearborn, Michigan, and the late Duncan and Lillian Simpson, of Kintail. Martin - John and Rosemary are delighted to announce the arrival of Craig Francis, born July 4, 1994, at Alexander Marine and General Hospital, Goderich. Craig is a new brother for Brent and Sean. Proud grandparents are Don and Mary Martin, of Wingham, and John,(and the late Sophie) Foran of R.R. 2, Auburn. Newlyweds live in Sarnia Smith - McBride Connie McBride and Dan Smith were united in marriage on June 4, 1994, at the First Baptist Church, Stayner, by Rev. Nor- man Bullock, Connie is the daughter of. George McBride of R.R. 5, Lucknow and Dan is the son of Jim and Linda Smith, Petrolia. Matron of honor was Tracey Smith, of Ottawa, the groom's sister-in-law. Rob Gen- noe, of Wyoming, a friend of the groom was bestman. A reception was held at the home of George and Donna McBride, following the wedding. Connie and Dan will live in Sarnia where he attends Lambton College. Dickies host family reunion Ira and Elizabeth Dickie and family hosted the Dickie reunion on July 10 with 64 attending. Over. night guests were Denver and Bren- ,da, Alex and Dianne Dickie of Sutton, Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Fowlie and Linda and friend Bar- bara of Jefferson; Ohio. Mrs. Fowlie is a sister of Ira's. Alia Kuraishi of Riverside, California,, is visiting with her grandparent: , Frank , and Murial MacKenzie. Sympathy is extended to. Kathy and Harold Howald on the death of Kathy's brother, Mark Read of —" Alexandria, Virginia. • Helen MacIntyre took a year's leave of absence from the Bruce County Board of Education to go to Osaka, Japan to teach English to 'adults. Helen expects to be gone for a year. The community certainly wishes her all the best while on this trip. Nancy and Helen MacIntyre en- joyed having Natasha Stanley for a holiday at their cottage at Port Albert. SOUTH KINLOSS by Ruth Buchmeier South Kinloss WMS The South Kinloss Women's Missionary Society met in the church basement on July 6 with Elizabeth Dickie as hostess Vice president Nancy Maclntyre chaired the meeting, opening with reading parts of "Love, Frustration, and Tired Souls", by Clara Henderson, from Glad Tidings. Rollcall was answered with a favorite Bible story. • Florence MacConnell gave an interesting Bible study on "kindness and generosity." She said kindness gives birth to kindness; Christian kindness carries with it concerns in sharing. Margaret De Boer very capably gave the Study Book on • three economics. We want our economical system to give a fair distribution of income with full employment, restore and retain health of the planet and' stability, growth and efficiency. But it cannot all be ongoing at the same time. Doris MacKinnon gave a reading "Wing of Prayer". Mrs. De Boer and Ruth Bell sang a duet with Marilyn Maclntrye accompanying at the piano. Mrs. De Boer and Mrs. MacCon- nell were the directors and served a delicious lunch to close the meeting. Reading Club It was blast off time at . the Lucknow Library, as pre-school and Grades 1 - 8 space explorers joined up for the annual summer reading club. This year's chal- lenge is to read six books, one about space or planets. There's still some room on the spaceship before we land for the "Wind-up Party" in mid-August.
